Top 5 Deep Sleeper RBs
Here are the top five running back deep sleepers heading into Week 3 of the NFL preseason.
5. Bryce Brown, Buffalo Bills
5. Bryce Brown, Buffalo Bills
Brown had some very bright moments during his tenure in Philadelphia and the Bills didn't acquire him cheaply (conditional third-round pick). Fred Jackson is getting up there in age and C.J. Spiller isn't made of steel. At the very least, Brown's a guy you need to keep in the back of your mind.
4. Terrance West, Cleveland Browns
4. Terrance West, Cleveland Browns
Ben Tate is a walking injury risk and West has virtually no competition for the No. 2 running back job in Cleveland. Towson has good speed (4.54 40-yard dash) for a back of his size (225 pounds) and could be a RB2 if Tate goes down.
3. Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ers
3. Carlos Hyde, San Francisco 49ers
Hyde is a must-own handcuff for every Frank Gore owner and if Gore were to miss any time this season, Hyde could very well be a top-10 back during those weeks. Many evaluators believe that he, not Bishop Sankey, was the most impressive RB to come out of college this year and he's looked great so far in preseason.
2. Devonta Freeman, Atlanta Falcons
2. Devonta Freeman, Atlanta Falcons
I prefer Freeman over Hyde not because of ability, but because I think Steven Jackson is much closer to hitting a wall than Frank Gore is. Jackson looked old and worn down last season and Jacquizz Rodgers is clearly not the future in Atlanta. Like Hyde, Freeman is a must-own for any Jackson owner.
1. Ahmad Bradshaw, Indianapolis Colts
1. Ahmad Bradshaw, Indianapolis Colts
Bradshaw was productive before he got hurt last season and -- other than injury issues -- he's had a solid NFL career up to this point. If the Colts hadn't given up so much to acquire Trent Richardson last season, we might be in the middle of a No. 1 RB battle in Indy, and if Richardson performs like he did in 2013, it won't be long before Indy lets Bradshaw ride shotgun next to Andrew Luck.
