Fantasy Football Week 2 Buy or Sell: Knowshon Moreno

After a huge 2013 season with the Denver Broncos, Knowshon Moreno decided to go a more run-heavy offense in the Miami Dolphins. Many thought Lamar Miller beat out Moreno in the preseason, but after Moreno’s performance in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, it is clear to see who the feature back is in Miami. In his first game with the Dolphins, Moreno carried the ball 24 times for more than 130 yards and a touchdown. Although Miller carried the football 11 times, it is clear that Moreno is the No. 1 back.

Going forward, the Dolphins have a ridiculously favorable matchup against the Buffalo Bills in the running game. Last year, the Bills gave up around 130 yards per game. The difference, however, is that Buffalo is without star linebacker Kiko Alonso. That being said, there will be a ton of running space for Moreno in this one. Ryan Tannehill has shown the ability to throw the deep ball. If Tannehill keeps throwing the football as well as he did in Week 1, teams will have to deploy pass-heavy defenses, which would mean more running space for Moreno.

I’m a big fan of Moreno in Week 2. I didn’t like him last year because I felt that most of his touchdowns came in the red zone, but the Dolphins are using Moreno extremely well in their zone-blocking scheme. Head coach and play-caller Joe Philbin is a terrific offensive mind, and he will continue to give the football to Moreno. For fantasy football owners out there, Moreno is a must-start in Week 2. Not only will he dominate in the running game, but Moreno should also see his fair share of dump-down passes, especially if the Bills bring the blitz. Moreno should be in for another big performance on Sunday.
