Russell Wilson Fantasy Football Week 5 Projection

Russell Wilson

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is quietly having an incredible season for his team. Despite only averaging 217 yards and two touchdowns per game, Wilson currently ranks in the top 10 in the NFL in both completion percentage and passer rating.

What makes Wilson so dangerous as a quarterback is his ability to elude defenders with his feet, as well as his passing ability. Defenders have to respect his speed when rushing, as he can easily run to the outside for the first down.

Wilson should be in great shape for Monday night’s game against the Washington Redskins, as the Seahawks are coming off of a bye week. Washington currently ranks eighth in the NFL against the run, but their secondary is only average, ranking 14th in the league against the pass.

While the Seahawks don’t have a great receiving corps, their receivers have been able to get it done so far this season; their defense certainly makes it easier for Wilson to attempt passes that he wouldn’t otherwise attempt were the Seahawks losing.

With the Washington run defense playing well so far this season, the Seahawks may have to rely more on Wilson than running back Marshawn Lynch. Last week, the Washington secondary was absolutely torched against the New York Giants and things won’t get any easier for them this week when Wilson, Percy Harvin and the Seahawks’ defense come to town.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Projection: 19-of-26 for 220 yards and two touchdowns, five carries for 25 yards.
