With NFL Week 8 nearly upon us, it is important to stay on top of all the injury news, especially for Fantasy Football owners who are trying to make a last minute decision on who to start. Check out these five important fantasy football injury updates for Sunday’s action.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Harry Douglas hasn’t suited up since Week 3. Considering he’s behind Julio Jones and Roddy White on the depth chart, many fantasy owners don’t think about Douglas in having big fantasy value. The truth is he’s worthy for a start, but unfortunately, not in Week 8 against an impressive Detroit Lions pass defense that ranks third in the NFL. Still, it’s good to know Douglas is available.

Many hoped Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson would make the start in Week 8, but Detroit ruled out any possibility of that on Sunday morning prior to the matchup against the Falcons in London. The good news is Megatron has been participating in practice. The bad news is there is no decent timetable for his return.

Much to the dismay of fantasy owners, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green will miss his third straight game on Sunday. At this point, I have to imagine owners have figured out a solid replacement. With that said, it’s good to stay on top of his progress. Expect Green to be back next week with a hopeful start in Week 9.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft will get to finally return to the field on Sunday. This is great news for fantasy owners who start the Houston Texans defense. Unfortunately, Clowney will only be used sparingly due to the Texans not wanting to aggravate his knee. Clowney being used solely on passing downs is still good for fantasy owners, though.

On Friday, Lions running back Reggie Bush was confident he would be able to play in Week 8. That confidence dimmed on Saturday and came to a complete halt on Sunday when he was ruled out. Bush has only seven fantasy points since Week 5, which means owners who own Joique Bell should enjoy another good day.
