Fantasy Football Week 11 Start or Sit: Giovani Bernard
The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off their worst loss of the season at home to the Cleveland Browns. Andy Dalton was historically bad in that loss to the Browns much to the disappointment of fantasy football owners. Across the board for the Bengals there was disappointment in fantasy, as their entire offense was a mess. Giovani Bernard was unable to play against the Browns due to a hip injury which seemed to hurt the Bengals’ offense.
In 2014, Bernard has been good with 446 yards on the ground with five touchdowns, and in the passing game he’s an irreplaceable part of the offense with 22 catches for 179 yards.
Bernard seemed to be a sure thing to play in Week 11 against the New Orleans Saints, but his hip doesn’t seem to be getting any better. He has been unable to practice at all this week, and that backs up the report from NFL Network that he will not be able to play on Sunday for the second straight game.
This is obviously a huge blow to fantasy owners in Week 11, as Bernard is generally a lock to start against any opponent. But with it seeming all but certain that he will be out against the Saints, owners must sit Bernard this week.
Bernard’s backup is Jeremy Hill, but he is likely not available in many leagues at this point, which is not good for owners of Bernard. There are a few options that are likely available in some leagues, as with the injury to Ronnie Hillman of the Denver Broncos, there are a few options to add as potential fill-ins.
