NHL Fantasy Hat Trick
Hot and Cold Edition
December 3rd, 2011

This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions and update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.

3 HOT
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) – Talk about a way to start your career; 28 points in 26 games, with 14 goals and only 6 penalty minutes. I just love these numbers because not only Hopkins is displaying NHL ready scoring skills, but also to have the self discipline of only 6 penalty minutes as an 18 year old is tremendous.

Ryan O’Reilly (COL) – This gritty two way forward is now emerging as an offensive presence in the Colorado Avalanche line-up. O’Reilly lead all skaters last week with 2 goals and 5 assists. O’Reilly is only owned in 11% of yahoo leagues, so why add him to your team while he is on a hot streak.

Ryan Jones (EDM) – Jones is a surprising player to make any hot streak list, especially when Jones only recorded 25 point in 81 games last season. But Jones’ 4 goals and 1 assist last week, a has lead him to a 14 point (9 goals & 5 assist) in 26 games this season. It is great to see Jones producing this much even though he is not known for his offensive skills. Why not add him to your team for the team being.

3 COLD
Alex Ovechkin (WSH) – Come on Ovechkin what are you doing on this list again. Well his 1 assist last week had something to do with it. Also the fact the Ovechkin is currently 70th in the NHL and scoring. Hopefully Washington Capitals new head coaching change will do some good.

Dan Boyle (SJS) – Boyle is another player that has made my cold list again. Ever since November 10th Boyle has zero points and a -5. I know he is 34 years old, but Boyle is on a very offensive San Jose team. But 8 games without a point is a long time for Boyle to go without getting on the scoring sheet.

Dion Phaneuf (TOR) – Phaneuf is another defender who did not record a point this week, after registering 6 points in 4 games in the week before. His 3 goals this year is well below what I had hope Phaneuf would of had at this point is the season.
