NHL Fantasy Hat Trick
Hot and Cold Edition
December 25th, 2011

This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions, update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.

3 HOT
Marian Gaborik (NYR) – Gaborik went into the Christmas break leading the NHL with 21 goals, this after an outstanding 6 goal performance over his last four games heading into the break. Look for Gaborik to continue his hot streak after Christmas and into the new year.

Nicklas Hagman (ANH) – Hagman has turned on a bit of a hot streak of his own over this Christmas season. Hagman’s two point night against the Los Angeles Kings on December 23rd gave Hagman seven points in his last 6 games. Any 14 team or larger fantasy leagues with deep rosters, should consider picking up Hagman for the time being. He’s only owned in 1% of yahoo leagues.

Stu Bickel (NYR) – A second New York Ranger got a little bit hot last week, but it’s a player you probably have never heard of before. Stu who? Stu Bickel is a 24 year old product from Chanhassen, Minnesota. He is a big stay at home defenceman, hence the four points in 27 games at AHL Connecticut this season. But he has started off his NHL career with an impressive four points in his first three games. As for you fantasy teams, if you’re defence core lacks production or if your desperate for a back-up defender, take a look at Stu.

3 COLD
Carey Price (MTL) – The holiday has not shined too bright on the Montreal Canadiens or Price. In his last four game we saw Price lost all four and let in 16 goals. I suggest you look at your other goalies on your fantasy team until Price gets his groove back.

Eric Staal (CAR) – Eric started off the month of December great recording a four games point streak, while registering 8 points in 6 games. The Captain of the Hurricanes has slid of the deep end again going scoreless in his last four games.

Bobby Ryan (ANH) – Ryan is a young star who has actually produces a lower point total than Eric this season. Ryan’s 17 points in 34 games is well below his last year’s Christmas day total of 27 points. Coming into this Christmas break Ryan was scoreless in his last four games. I hope the new year has better fortunes for Ryan and the Anaheim Ducks.
