The Columbus Blue Jackets used Twitter to promote a unique jersey promotion. Between the first a second periods of tonight’s Blue Jackets game if you bring in your old Jeff Carter jersey they will remove the nameplate and replace it with Jack Johnson’s for free!

If you recall, Carter and Johnson were swapped for each other in a deal with the Los Angeles Kings prior to the trade deadline. Johnson has since claimed Carter’s old No.7. Now fans have a chance to own a Johnson jersey with ZERO out of pocket expense.

I like the concept. Not only could it draw additional bodies through the gates but it may help create customer loyalty by allowing fans to keep their jersey’s current and in-tune with the line-up on the ice.

Plus, clever marketing is always the quick and easiest way to hide the fact that your franchise is terrible.
