Benny Sieu - US PRESSWIRE

The Green Bay Packers will look to close out their preseason with a win against the Kansas City Chiefs tonight at 6:00 P.M. CDT at Lambeau Field.

The Packers (1-2) will be looking for revenge against the Chiefs (1-2) for last year’s only loss in the regular season which prevented them from becoming just the second team in NFL history to go 16-0.

As it is the 4th preseason game for each team, expect most of the starters including last year’s NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers,  to be rested. Instead, this game will be the last chance for the fringe players for both teams to try to make their team’s 53-man roster. And should the Packers lose and end the preseason with just a 1-3 record, it should be no cause for panic.

Want proof? During the Indianapolis Colts’ run of nine straight 10-win seasons (total record: 109-35) they went just 11-27 in the preseason, including just one winning record in that span.

Furthermore the infamous 2008 Detroit Lions who went 0-16 in the regular season actually had a perfect 4-0 record in the preseason. So when taking in tonight’s game, think not of the score at the end, but the battles between the players trying to fill out the last few spots of the Packers roster.

Someone important will get hurt this year and in all likelihood one of the players who makes an impact tonight will play major minutes for this probable playoff team.
