Astros second-baseman Jose Altuve has shown a tendency to get off to a fast start.

Following a late-July promotion to the majors, Altuve began his major-league career by going on a 7-game hitting streak that included a very impressive 11 base-hits in just his first week.

Altuve continued to rack up the hits from that point onward, cementing himself at the top of the Houston line-up thanks to his plus-.300 batting average, solid defense, and passion for the game.

However, almost a month after joining the Astros, the Venezuelan youngster had yet to drive a pitch into the outfield stands to record career home run ‘numero uno’.

That changed on Saturday night… kind of.

Batting lead-off in the team’s 7-5 victory over the Giants (its 4th consecutive win!), Altuve “touched’em all” in the most of exciting of fashions – with an inside-the-park home run!

Talk about an unexpected way to ‘break the ice’, statistically- and not a bad way to open a game either!

Wondering who was the last player to hit his first career home run via the inside-the-park variety?

You’d have to go “all the way back” to August 5th of this year, when outfielder Tony Campana of the Chicago Cubs managed to perform the feat against the Cincinnati Reds. So strange.
