The Jacksonville Jaguars announced on Tuesday that they signed wide receiver Chastin West off of the Green Bay Packers practice squad.

West was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Packers in 2010 and spent the entire season on their practice squad. He was placed on their practice squad again before the 2011 season despite leading all Packers receivers in yards during the 2011 preseason.

West could make an immediate impact for the Jaguars who are currently without wide receivers Jason Hill and Kassim Osgood as they are trying to work back from injuries. He will get at least three weeks to make an impression on the Jaguars coaching staff, because NFL rules mandate that a player must be kept on the active roster for at least three weeks if they are signed off of another team’s practice squad.

To make room for West, the Jaguars released wide receiver Jamar Newsome.
