The Jacksonville Jaguars are ready to get their first look at first-round draft pick Justin Blackmon in live game action on Friday night when they play their second preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.

Blackmon missed the Jaguars first preseason game last Friday against the New York Giants because he had just signed his contract days prior, and the team was not ready to throw him into live game action. Now, the Jaguars are ready to get a look at what its passing offense make look like this season with Blackmon joining free agent signing Laurent Robinson in the starting lineup.

Blackmon missed the first 12 days of Jaguars training camp as he and the team negotiated over protection terms in his contract that would help the team recover some bonus money if he has another incident with the law. Blackmon was arrested back in June for aggravated DUI in Oklahoma, his second alcohol related incident.

The Jaguars hope their new wide receiver can put his offseason behind him and focus on helping improve the NFL‘s worst passing offense from last season. The Jaguars have struggled with drafting wide receivers in the first round in the past and hope that Blackmon can be better than R. Jay Soward, Reggie Williams and Matt Jones.

All indications out of Jaguars camp during his first week of practice is that Blackmon is poised to make a major impact on the passing offense in 2012.

New Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey expects his starters to play for most of the first half against the Saints, and that includes Blackmon as he tries to build chemistry with starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
