College Football Recruiting: Georgia Bulldogs Get Another Plant HS Product In Safety Paris Bostick
In college football, universities recruit their in-state recruits the hardest and those from the states closest. By doing this a pipeline is created that sends recruits to a university’s football program.
However, in the case of the Georgia Bulldogs, sometimes a pipeline between a high school and a university is created.
Early Monday afternoon, Mark Richt and the Dawgs received their 25th commit of their 2013 class in Plant High School (Tampa, Florida) safety Paris Bostick. Bostick is rated by ESPN as a three star prospect and the 50th safety in the nation. He is Georgia’s third safety commit and joins Tray Matthews and Quincy Mauger as safeties committed to the school. Programs such as Arkansas, Louisville, Texas A&M, and West Virginia were all hot on the recruiting trail for Paris Bostick. His commitment is a huge one for the Bulldogs, who lose both of their starters at safety, Bacarri Rambo and Shawn Williams, to graduation after this season. He will provide quality depth for Georgia and should see early playing time.
At 6-foot-1, 2217 pounds, Paris Bostick fits the mold of defensive backs Georgia secondary coach Scott Lakatos covets. Since his tenure at Connecticut began, Lakatos has always targeted tall safeties that can play big.
Interestingly, Paris Bostick is the third Plant HS player to commit to the Bulldogs in the past five years. The other two Bulldogs that came from Plant? Former Georgia Bulldog, now Cincinnati Bengal, tight end Orson Charles and star quarterback Aaron Murray. Murray and Charles were both part of Mark Richt’s 2009 recruiting class.
Needless to say, Plant HS is slowly developing a reputation of sending quality players to play for Mark Richt in Athens.
