NBA fans may finally have a reason to cheer. Although the entirety of the 2011-12 pre-season was cancelled earlier this week, former NBA star Bill Walton is confident that the entire NBA season will take place.

When asked if he thought there would be an NBA season in 2011-12, Walton said, “They’re close.” While grinning, he repeated, “Oh, yeah. They’re close.”

Perhaps Walton has some insider information regarding this issue. Either that or he desperately wants to return to his gig as a part-time broadcaster for the Sacramento Kings. I would put my money on the former.

Walton’s revelation comes shortly following a report that claimed the NBAPA turned down a deal in the region of a 50-50 split.

How could the players possibly turn down a 50-50 split?

Well, there is much more to the CBA than the distribution of revenue. That being said, rejecting a 50-50 proposal surely makes the players come off as the “bad guys”.

Who would you blame if the NBA cancels regular season games, the owners or the players?
