The lockout shortened NBA season is already putting stress on NBA rosters. The Miami Heat have jumped out to a 5-0 record in the season’s first week. Miami has played those five games in just eight days.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier in week two. The Heat will play four games in the next six days. The week starts with a Monday night home game against the division rival Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta is off to a 3-1 start due in large part to the NBA’s best defense. The Hawks are allowing just 86.5 points per game. The matchup with Miami presents an intriguing contrast as the Heat are currently the league’s top scoring offense.

Miami will host the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night before heading on the road. The Heat will play at Atlanta in a rematch with the Hawks on Thursday, a game which can be seen on TNT. The week ends with a Saturday game at the New Jersey Nets.

The week ahead will present ample opportunities for the Miami bench to shine. While veteran Shane Battier has struggled with his shot he has been a valuable defender. Rookie guard Norris Cole has given the team an offensive burst off the bench. The always dependable Udonis Haslem has been just that, averaging 10.3 rebounds in just under 30 minutes per game off the bench.
