Adrian Peterson’s Charity App Hits $20K in Donations

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson‘s reputation off the field is already very good, but it may of just become great. I recently found out about a charity app Peterson master-minded called Football For Good Giving Assistant. The app was created with partner GlobalMojo last November, and the proceeds recently hit the $20,000 mark.

The concept is very simple, when you go online with the browser app and make purchases at places like Gap.com, Hotels.com, Bestbuy.com, a portion goes to Peterson’s charity.

Peterson’s charity is the All Day Foundation, which benefits at-risk youth.

To acknowledge hitting $20k in donations, the foundation issued a press release:

“Peterson’s Giving Assistant installs seamlessly into your Internet browser in seconds (available for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer) and notifies you of participating online retail partners when you are shopping.

Each time a purchase is made with an approved partner, a percentage of sales is automatically redirected to programs that support at-risk children at no additional cost to the shopper. Users of the Giving Assistant are entered to win one-of-kind prizes including a trip to the Super Bowl, a trip to the Pro Bowl and signed Peterson memorabilia.”

Adrian Peterson of course commented on his foundation’s achievement:

“I’m excited to see my supporters rally so strong the past few months. The Giving Assistant campaign will continue to grow over the rest of the year with the upcoming 2012 season and holiday shopping.”

This is a truly great thing to see. Peterson continues to impress, this being the second time in April his name has been in the news for donations. You’ll recall he gave $1 million big ones to his alma mater the University of Oklahoma earlier in the month.

I hope to see continued success for the app, and Peterson’s charity. Hopefully more athletes in a position to give back take notice, and follow AP’s lead.
