Get your popcorn ready because UFC on fuel, which airs on Wednesday, features some great match-ups and interesting names.

The headliner features Jake ‘The Juggernaut’ Ellenberger taking on Diego Sanchez in an enticing battle at 170 lbs. The fight has possible title implications because it could thrust the winner firmly in the discussion for a number one contenders match while taking the loser a step down into the muddled mess in the middle of the 170 division.

Sanchez is a great grappler and likes to control the pace of fights by doing so. Sanchez is also a great wrestler and a powerful striker, though not technical. In his heyday, BJ Penn proved that a tactician can destroy Sanchez while standing.

The good news for Sanchez is that Ellenberger is not Penn.

No one doubts Sanchez’s heart and passion for fighting. Especially after his bloody duel with Martin Kampman that led to a controversial decision.

Sanchez perhaps shaved fights off of his career with the amount of blood loss and damage that he took all in the name of a win.

But, I guess, such is life if MMA is your chosen profession.

Sanchez hasn’t fought in 11 months so ring rust could be an issue.

Ellenberger, on the other hand is a very seasoned fighter on a roll. ‘The Juggernaut’ is on a five game win streak. His last loss was to the current interim champion, Carlos Condit.

Ellenberger is a great all-around fighter and can beat you in several different ways.

Ellenberger is very good at take down defense. It will be compelling to see if Sanchez will attempt to take Ellenberger to the ground or if he believes that he has an advantage striking. If Sanchez chooses to stand with Ellenberger he’ll have to watch out for Ellenberger’s heavy hands.

‘The Juggernaut’ is coming off of a convincing victory over Jake Shields in a first round TKO. It was his second first round TKO in as many fights.

This fight, in my opinion, will clearly display Ellenberger’s readiness for a step up in talent. He will finally have the big name on his resume to warrant that step up.

Ellenberger wins by unanimous decision.

Card Notes

Stefan Struve brings his unorthodox striking and great submission skills back to the Octagon against Dave Herman. Herman is a good fighter but Struve is now a seasoned vet. Struve will choke out Herman in the second round.

Ultimate Fighter winner, Johnathan Brooking is also on the facebook part of the card. He will take on Vagner Rocha.
