Round 1

1. Indianapolis Colts 0-5 Andrew Luck Quarterback Stanford Junior Redshirt The Colts blew a 24 to 14 lead to the Kansas City Chiefs.  The team that gets the #1 overall pick will likely get Andrew Luck.

There were 2 once in a generation quarterback prospects prior to Andrew Luck.  Those signal callers were John Elway and Peyton Manning.

The Colts traded Elway hoping for a King’s Ransom in return because Elway did not want to play for the Colts.  That didn’t work out and the Baltimore Colts ended up relocating to Indianapolis.  This may have influenced the original Cleveland Browns to relocate becoming the Baltimore Ravens.

Peyton Manning went #1 overall 15 years later in 1998.  Manning has been the face of the Colts franchise ever since.

The Colts will draft Luck #1 overall if they get the top pick.  There are 2 questions if the Colts take Luck #1 overall.  Not questions about Luck, but rather questions about whether the Colts keep him.

A) Will the Colts keep Luck as a successor to Manning?

B) Will the Colts trade Luck like they did with another Stanford quarterback 30 years ago when the Indianapolis Colts were the Baltimore Colts?

Colts fans ask yourself those questions.  Reflect on those thoughts and then generate your conclusion on what the Colts will do if they get the chance to draft Luck with the top pick.

2. Miami Dolphins 0-4 Matt Barkley Quarterback USC Junior After Andrew Luck the best quarterback with the most experience in a pro style offense is USC’s Matt Barkley.

The Miami Dolphins will take Matt Barkley or Robert Griffin III over Landry Jones if they pick second because Barkley has the most experience in an NFL pro style offense and Griffin III has the ability to be utilized as a dual threat quarterback.

Landry Jones has yet to play in a limelight climate.  Jones played high school ball in New Mexico.  He played in a Fiesta Bowl game against Connecticut.  In a game where Jones was battle tested against an NFL potential Florida State defense he threw 1 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.  Jones responded in the clutch against the Seminoles when the game was tied at 13.

Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Landry Jones all have proven themselves in the 4th quarter.  Matt Barkley is the only quarterback who has yet to rally a team in the 4th quarter.

At the end of the day I believe Barkley and Griffin are both ranked higher on Miami’s draft board then Landry Jones.  What will be interesting to see is if I turn out to be right or wrong.  You never know what direction a new regime goes in.  That’s why its so difficult to predict what new regimes do with their picks.

One basic rule about new regimes is that new regimes often search for a quarterback with a first round pick.  New regimes almost always take a quarterback with a 1st round pick if one is available and the team does not have a franchise quarterback.

I have Barkley graded out as the highest graded quarterback prospect after Andrew Luck.  For now Barkley will be the 2nd quarterback selected in my mock draft.

3. St. Louis Rams 0-4 Matt Kalil Left Tackle USC Junior Redshirt St. Louis took 19 sacks in 4 games.  Roger Saffold only surrendered 1 sack all year as a rookie.  Saffold is n a sophomore slump at left tackle.  Jason Smith has been a waste of a top 5 pick for the St. Louis Rams and he needs to be replaced.

Sam Bradford would have so much more time in the pocket if the St. Louis Rams made Matt Kalil Bradford’s blue chip blindside.  This would allow Saffold to move to right tackle allowing Jason Smith to move inside to left guard assuming the Rams decide not to release Smith buying out his contract.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars 1-4 Quinton Coples Right End North Carolina Senior The Jaguars need a pass rusher.  Mock Drafts dating back to the 2010 NFL Draft had the Jaguars taking a defensive end for the past two years.

The Jaguars had some leverage of ignoring this glaring need when Aaron Kampman was a healthy durable 4-3 right end in 2010 and 2011 because 2008 first round pick Derrick Harvey was still developing.  The problem is Harvey was a waste of a top 10 pick and the Jaguars parted ways with him.

Now Kampman is an aging defensive end who has to play the 4-3 left end role.  Kampman needs to be a bookend to a highly coveted rookie pass rusher.

Jacksonville no longer has the patience or the luxury to wait around hoping Kampman will be a pro bowl sack artist at the 4-3 right end role.  Kampman’s aging and injury issues need to be addressed by bringing in a bookend pass rusher with immense upside and pro bowl potential.

That highly coveted pass rusher could be Quinton Coples.  Coples reminds me more of Julius Peppers with his high character and leadership than he does of Robert Quinn.  I believe Coples could have early success like Peppers did if he was placed in a situation like Jacksonville.

5. Denver Broncos 1-4 Trent Richardson Running Back Alabama Junior Tim Tebow looked extremely promising on Sunday.  I think Tebow should start full time.  People believe Cam Newton is something special.

Newton was Tebow’s backup for a brief period at Florida.  Unless Newton wins a Super Bowl Ring I am going to talk about how Tebow is twice the quarterback that Newton will ever be.

Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno make big plays at times.  Despite this, Trent Richardson is a huge upgrade over either back.  Trent Richardson is one of the most complete running back prospects.

Richardson’s only potential con is the fact that he has such a good run blocking unit at Alabama.  Denver has a good run blocking unit.  There are plays where their run blocking unit creates holes for brief periods of time.  The running back fails to recognize these holes with his ball carrier vision and then the opposing run defense closes these open gaps.

Richardson will exploit these open gaps to his fullest advantage with his ball carrier vision.  Richardson will take a lot of pressure off a quarterback.

John Fox loves drafting running backs.  Fox uses multiple rushers to establish the ground game by running the football.

6. Arizona Cardinals 1-4 Jonathan Martin Left Tackle Stanford Junior Redshirt The Cardinals need to get Kevin Kolb a blindside.  Left tackle Jonathan Martin is Andrew Luck’s blindside at Stanford.  Luck lost 3 of his 5 offensive lineman last season.  Left tackle Jonathan Martin and right guard David DeCastro were the two returning offensive lineman this season.  Martin may be the main reason why Luck’s draft stock hasn’t taken a major hit so far this year.

I realize Luck is a once in a generation prospect.  At the same time Jonathan Martin is an underrated asset at the left tackle position.  Martin reminds me of Jonathan Odgen coming out of UCLA.

Martin is a premium blindside at left tackle.  Martin is going to give a quarterback more time in the pocket.  Quarterbacks will also gain additional composure due to Martin’s pass blocking ability.

Worst Case Scenario, Martin turns out to be as productive as former Stanford Cardinal blindside Bob Whitfield.  Come to think of it, Whitfield managed to have a pretty productive career playing for the Atlanta Falcons from 1992 to 2003.

Whitfield helped the Falcons reach Super Bowl by 33 pass blocking for Chris Chandler and run blocking for Jamal Anderson.

I could see Martin having a similar impact with the Arizona Cardinals assuming the Cardinals keep Kevin Kolb, Beanie Wells, Larry Fitzgerald, and Todd Heap around for the 2012 season.

7. Carolina Panthers 1-4 Michael Floyd Wide Receiver Notre Dame Senior Carolina needs a flanker receiver for Cam Newton.  Steve Smith is having a monster year.  At the same time its difficult for me to see the Panthers organization forking over 7 million a year to Smith when he could easily decline in terms of production next season.

Justin Blackmon could be an effective slot receiver or a secondary receiver.  Blackmon is 6 foot 1 215 pounds.  While Blackmon may display the speed, route running, and the ability to catch the football in traffic he lacks the size to become a flanker receiver.

Michael Floyd has had a monster senior campaign for Notre Dame.  Floyd has a weight span of 6 foot 3 224 pounds.  Michael Floyd clearly has the size advantage over Blackmon.  The only reason Blackmon has the edge over Michael Floyd is because Floyd had some character concerns heading into his senior campaign this offseason.

Floyd has better numbers than Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon too.  Blackmon has 46 receptions, 534 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns VS Floyd’s 53 receptions, 639 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns.

Do the math.  Michael Floyd is the top receiving prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft at this point.  Then Justin Blackmon is a close 2nd best behind Floyd.

8. Philadelphia Eagles 1-4 Vontaze Burfict Middle Linebacker Arizona State Junior Even though the Eagles should get a right tackle they got 2 2nd round picks including 1 from the Arizona Cardinals.

I know I have Ricky Wagner graded out as a top 10 talent.  At the same time there are some flaws in Wagner’s game.  One of the cons about Ricky Wagner in my scouting report was his learning rate.  Wagner should succeed because he has major upside and potential.  On the flip side Ricky Wagner may not translate his skill set to the NFL right away.  You could consider Wagner a bigger project than Gabe Carimi needing 2 or 3 years to develop.

Wagner has more potential than Carimi.  The downside is he is a bigger risk than Carimi.  I seriously doubt the Eagles use a high risk, high reward draft pick on an offensive tackle if they pick this high.

Should the Eagles use a top 10 pick on a right tackle when his skill set may not even translate to the next level?

The Eagles passed on Wisconsin offensive tackle Gabe Carimi for Danny Watkins.  Clearly the Eagles front office went to Wisconsin’s pro day and did not like what they see with Carimi.  The Eagles scouting department may have grabbed a glimpse at some of Wisconsin’s other offensive line prospects including Wagner.

Remember when the Eagles traded Kolb for Rodgers Cromartie and a 2nd round pick from Arizona?  That may actually help the Eagles on draft day in 2012 if both Arizona and Philadelphia continue to play this poorly with their 1-4 records.

The Eagles got the Cardinals 2nd round pick in addition to the Eagles 2nd round pick, the Eagles 3rd round pick, and the Eagles 4th round pick.

Both of Eagles 2nd round draft picks add up to 1,040 points on the trade value chart.  The Eagles could package both 2nd round picks and realistically trade up to the 16th pick to grab Andrew Datko, Riley Reiff Mike Adams, or Michael Brewster solidifying a gaping hole on the offensive line.

The Eagles could also trade their 2nd and 3rd round picks to move up to the 23rd pick keeping their 2nd round pick from the Arizona Cardinals.  There would be no guarantee an offensive tackle would be available at #23 overall.  At the same time there is a chance someone could slide to #23 overall.

Heck, the Eagles could trade their 2nd and 4th round pick to move up grabbing the 31st overall pick.  The Eagles have multiple options and will look at where each offensive tackle is projected to get drafted before preparing to submit a trade offer.

Some of the highly coveted 2nd round prospects at right tackle include Matt Reynolds of BYU, Bobbie Massie of Ole Miss, and Levi Adcock of Oklahoma State.  The Eagles will control their own destiny once the 2012 NFL Draft approaches with their array of early draft selections.

9. Minnesota Vikings 1-4 Ricky Wagner Left Tackle Wisconsin Junior Redshirt The Vikings are going to get Christian Ponder a blindside with this pick.  Ricky Wagner is the best left tackle prospect available.  I was really impressed with what I seen with Wagner.  He may be a reach at this point in the eyes of some draft critics.  Do

1o. Seattle Seahawks 2-3 Robert Griffin III Quarterback Baylor Junior Redshirt Before I tell you why I think Griffin will be the pick.  Pete Carroll likes dual threat quarterbacks.  Griffin has the arm, accuracy, zip, football IQ, GPA, and high character.  Robert Griffin is more accurate than Vick was coming out of Virginia Tech. Griffin has more experience in a pro style offense than Cam Newton coming out of Auburn.  Griffin also has high character something that has been a question mark with Vince Young.

Seattle needs to get a quarterback if one falls to them.  Right now Robert Griffin III is playing better than Landry Jones.  Maybe that changes if Griffin performs poorly against Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma down the stretch.

For now I will give Robert Griffin III the benefit of the doubt since I had him as a 1st round pick to Oakland back in June before the Raiders took Pryor in the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft.

11. Chicago Bears 2-3 Dre Kirkpatrick Cornerback Alabama Junior Justin Blackmon may be an enticing option here.  I feel like Dre Kirkpatrick is the better prospect if he falls this far.  The Bears need a flanker receiver.  Blackmon is a slot receiver with secondary receiver potential as a #2 receiver.

While the Bears could use an upgrade at wide receiver cornerback is also a pressing need in Chicago.  Kirkpatrick has huge upside to develop into a complete field cornerback who could contain flanker receivers like Greg Jennings, Percy Harvin, and Calvin Johnson.

Chicago could use a cornerback with this pick.  If the Bears do not opt for Dre Kirkpatrick or Morris Claiborne then Justin Blackmon or Alshon Jeffery will end up being the selection.

12. Kansas City Chiefs 2-3 Andrew Datko Left Tackle Florida State Senior Matt Cassel should be replaced at seasons end.  I wanted to pencil Landry Jones into this selection.

The reason I am giving Matt Cassel a hall pass is because the Chiefs rallied back against the Colts.  Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert looked awful in the contest and Albert needs to be replaced.

With no top 10 talents fitting what the Chiefs look for in terms of need, the Chiefs reach for a player by addressing a critical need. Mock Drafts dating back to the 2010 NFL Draft had the Chiefs getting a left tackle.  2012 will finally be the year the Chiefs get their blindside if Cassel begins reverting to his 2010 form from last season.

I will change this pick to Landry Jones if Cassel goes back to his losing ways in upcoming weeks.  For now, Cassel gets to keep his job in my mock draft.

13. New York Jets 2-3 Justin Blackmon Wide Receiver Oklahoma State Junior Redshirt Its unlikely, but the  Jets could keep losing like this and end up in a position to draft Justin Blackmon.  If that happens Rex Ryan will have a tough time explaining to quarterback Mark Sanchez on why the Jets should pass on Blackmon.

14. Cleveland Browns from Atlanta Falcons 2-3 Brandon Lindsey Right End Pittsburgh Senior Redshirt Brandon Lindsey can play in a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme.  Lindsey can line up at right end or left end.  Cleveland moved Jabaal Sheard from a     4-3 right end to a 4-3 left end.

15. Cleveland Browns 2-2 Alshon Jeffery Wide Receiver South Carolina Junior The Browns use this pick to get Colt McCoy the flanker receiver that he desperately needs.  AJ Green had Andre Johnson’s size and Calvin Johnson’s talent.  Alshon Jeffery has Andre Johnson’s potential and Calvin Johnson’s size.

Jeffery got off to a rocky start which has taken a hit on Jeffery’s draft stock.  This is probably due Stephen Garcia playing at quarterback prior to getting benched on Saturday.

16. Dallas Cowboys 2-2 Morris Claiborne Cornerback LSU Junior The Cowboys need a shutdown corner.  After Dre Kirkpatrick, I have Morris Claiborne graded out as my top cornerback prospect.  Claiborne could leapfrog Kirkpatrick as the top corner if he continues to perform impressively.

17. Cincinnati Bengals 3-2 Brandon Thompson Defensive Tackle Clemson Senior Clemson defensive tackle looks like the top defensive tackle available at this point.  One of the Bengals more dire needs is the defensive tackle spot.

The Clemson Tigers are off to a 6-0 start this season.  Thompson has been really effective at stuffing the run despite losing Jarvis Jenkins and DeQuan Bowers on the defensive line.

18. Oakland Raiders 3-2 Jerel Worthy Defensive Tackle Michigan State Junior Redshirt I believe that the Raiders will focus on adding more depth in the trenches now that Al Davis has passed away.  For years the Raiders have focused on drafting players with sick 40 times.  I get the feeling that changes this year.

Michigan State has allowed the fewest total yards in the entire FBS.  You can attribute this success to Michigan State defensive tackle Jerel Worthy who nearly managed to shut out Ohio State a few weeks ago.

The Ohio State University scored with less than a minute against the Spartans a few weeks ago.  The Buckeye touchdown did not prevent an inevitable defeat, but it did allow the Buckeyes to gain a moral victory mentally as the Buckeye’s put up some points at the end of the contest saving face.

19. Tennessee Titans 3-2 Luke Kuechly Middle Linebacker Boston College Junior The Titans will draft a middle linebacker with the skill set of Luke Kuechly.  Kuechly would provide a major upgrade for the Titans.

20. New York Giants 3-2 Monte Teo Right Outside Linebacker Notre Dame Junior Even though I would like to see the Giants draft Ohio State center Michael Brewster it probably will not happen.  The Giants have a lot of depth on the offensive line, and center David Baas is a Michigan alumnus.  It would be a slap in the face to Baas to draft a Buckeye long snapper with a top 20 pick one year after signing Baas.

Brewster would provide a huge upgrade over Baas.  The thing is the Giants have some defensive concerns they will need to address as well.  Notre Dame linebacker Monte Teo can play the WILL, MIKE, or SAM roles in the 4-3.  Teo can also be utilized as a middle linebacker in the 3-4 scheme.  The Giants could use a run stuffing outside linebacker on the right side with Teo’s versatility.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-2 Jayron Hosley Cornerback Virginia Tech Junior Jayron Hosley is the best available cornerback prospect at this point.  Hosley had double digit interceptions in 2010.  Hosley was a premier zone coverage cornerback last season.  This season Hosley has really improved his man coverage abilities.

Tampa Bay has some strong ties when it comes to drafting players on Virginia Tech’s secondary.  Hosley could easily be the pick since the Buccaneers scouting department is heavily examining the 2012 cornerback class.

There are 10 different corners that Tampa Bay is beginning to look at by scouting 2012 corners extensively.  Jayron Hosley cornerback Virginia Tech, Trumaine Johnson Cornerback Montana, Stephon Gilmore cornerback South Carolina, Alfonzo Dennard cornerback Nebraska, Chase Minnifield cornerback Nebraska, Janoris Jenkins cornerback Northern Alabama, and Cliff Harris cornerback Oregon, Desmond Trufant cornerback Washington, Omar Bolden cornerback Arizona State, and Casey Heyward cornerback Vanderbilt.

10 cornerbacks in the 2012 NFL Draft have got members of the Buccaneers scouting department taking notice.  Which corner will prevail becoming Tampa Bay’s 2012 first round pick?  Its too early to crown a winner at this point, but right now I would bet on Hosley.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers 3-2 Cordy Glenn Right Guard Georgia Senior Cordy Glenn has started every game for the Georgia Bulldogs at left tackle this season.  Glenn is much more suited to play a guard role because of his poor footwork.  Glenn can play either left guard or the right guard.  Cordy Glenn has experience starting in both left guard and right guard situations at Georgia.

Cordy Glenn is a tremendous pass blocker and powerful run blocker.  Glenn has an enormous weight span of 6 foot 5 348 pounds.  Glenn appears to be the ideal fit for Pittsburgh’s power blocking scheme which relies heavily on an offensive lineman’s size.

Pittsburgh needs a long term solution at left tackle once Starks is gone.  Glenn could start out at right guard with Chris Kemoatu and Maurkice Pouncey aiding Glenn on the interior offensive line.  An interior offensive line with this much talent when healthy could allow Rashard Mendenhall to average a minimum of 5 yards per carry and a maximum of 6.3 yards per carry.

Even though I like to build my team around passing the football, any Steeler fan will tell you how easy Roethlisberger’s job would become if Mendenhall averaged 5 yards per carry on a game to game basis.

When Chris Kemoatu gets injured the Steelers can just plug Glenn into a left guard role without handing an inexperience lineman who is a right guard at best like Essex, Foster, or Legursky the left guard job.  This would make the Steelers interior offensive line much more stable long term because injuries have been piling up with the Pittsburgh Steelers interior offensive line.

Glenn could play in his guard role for a few years until the Steelers offensive line coach develops Glenn’s footwork.  Then if Marcus Gilbert fails to win the left tackle job once Starks leaves the Steelers could give Cordy Glenn a crack at the left tackle job hoping Cordy Glenn becomes Roethlisberger’s blindside once Ben’s ability to throw on the run shows signs of declining as Roethlisberger begins to enter his mid 30′s.

There is nothing to worry about if Glenn does not work out as a left tackle.  Pittsburgh can leave him on the interior offensive line and draft a left tackle in the first round in a couple of years from now.  Plus if you took Glenn you would be giving him a few years to potentially develop into a left tackle situation even though he may be better suited to play inside at guard.

I originally had Cordy Glenn graded out as a 3rd round prospect back in August.  He looked sluggish against Boise State and South Carolina which caused me to bump Glenn down to a 4th round grade.  Glenn was impressive last week playing left tackle for Georgia against Tennessee.

I always believed Glenn had first round talent as a sleeper, but I did not think he would be rising up mock drafts so quickly after his teams poor early performances.  Some mock drafts had Glenn up in the first round for a few weeks even after his sluggish 2 game start against 2 top 15 ranked opponents.

Glenn is a first round talent and he showed why on Saturday by protecting Aaron Murray’s blindside and opening up the running game for a banged up Bulldogs rushing attack.  Glenn’s blocking was essential in Georgia’s win over the Tennessee Volunteer’s on Saturday.

23. Houston Texans 3-2 Robert Lester Free Safety Alabama Junior Redshirt The Texans opt to use this pick on a safety.  Robert Lester is arguably the top safety available in the 2012 NFL Draft.

24. Washington Redskins 3-1 Landry Jones Quarterback Oklahoma Junior Redshirt I have been down on Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones for multiple reasons.  One reason includes his 5 step drop.  Jones usually fires a deep pass when calling a 5 step drop.  If defensive coordinators notice this they will use cover 4 coverage shells by having all 4 players on secondary playing zone coverage hoping it leads Landry Jones to making a poor decision.

Some people say Jones is the best quarterback after Andrew Luck.  I am not one of those happy campers who believes that Jones could become the next Sam Bradford.  I do not even believe Jones is the 3rd best quarterback prospect.

Jones plays in a shotgun spread offense and has less experience calling pro style plays then Robert Griffin III.  Besides Indianapolis, Washington is one ideal situation where Landry Jones benefits greatly.

Jones could sit out behind Rex Grossman and John Beck on the Redskins depth chart working his way up the depth chart.  The Redskins would not have to rush Landry Jones into a starting role.  Plus Mike Shanahan could be the one head coach who could develop Landry Jones into an effective starter.  Kyle Shanahan, Mike’s son developed Matt Schaub in Houston when Kyle worked for Shanahan’s former offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak.

Plus even if Jones does work out we usually see quarterbacks fall in the NFL Draft.  Aaron Rodgers name didn’t get called until late on draft day in 2005. Matt Leinart fell to the 10th pick in 2006.  Brady Quinn fell to the end of the first round in 2007.  Jimmy Clausen was once the projected #1 overall pick.  Clausen fell out of the first round all together while Tebow a 3rd round prospect in the eyes of some critics was drafted in the late first round.  Blaine Gabbert once rivaled Cam Newton for the top pick in the 2011 NFL Draft only to fall to the #10 overall selection.

Jones may succeed and prove me wrong.  Its not unreasonably out of the question to believe that Jones could slide this far on draft day like previous quarterback prospects.

25. Baltimore Ravens 3-1 Michael Brewster Center Ohio State Senior Michael Brewster would make a great long term replacement at the center position once Matt Birk retires.

26. San Francisco 49ers 4-1 Trumaine Johnson Cornerback Montana Senior Trumaine Johnson can play a cornerback or a free safety role.  The 49ers could use upgrades at both cornerback and free safety.  Johnson is 6 foot 2 210 pounds.  Nate Clements was a ballhawk corner who made interceptions happen as a corner.  Carlos Rodgers is performing like a pro bowler with the 49ers 4-1 start.  The thing is the 49ers lack a #2 cornerback.  Harbaugh may become enticed to draft Trumaine Johnson.

A lot of NFC Teams have Johnson as a first round prospect on their draft boards believing he will make a similar impact to Dominique Rodgers Cromartie.

27. Buffalo Bills 4-1 Bruce Irvin 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker West Virginia Senior Dave Wannstedt will want to build the Bills 3-4 defense around a Big East Pass rusher.  If he cannot get his hands on former Pittsburgh pass rusher Brandon Lindsey then he may opt to convince the Bills to draft Mountaineer pass rusher Bruce Irvin to be a bookend to Merriman.

Fun Fact, Bruce Irvin is the name of a kickboxing character in the fighting video game series Tekken.  Ironically enough West Virginia’s Bruce Irvin looks very similar to his video game counterpart.

28. New England Patriots from New Orleans Saints 4-1 Brandon Jenkins Right End Junior Jenkins may be off to a sloppy start when it comes to generating sacks in 2011.  Jenkins had 13.5 sacks in 2010.  Jenkins can play defensive end in a 4-3 scheme or outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme.  Bill Belicheck has been using 4-3/3-4 hybrid packages.  Belicheck needs a hybrid pass rusher.  Brandon Jenkins is a hybrid pass rusher who could become a useful asset for the New England Patriots defense down the road.

29. San Diego Chargers 4-1 Courtney Upshaw 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Senior Upshaw is a 3-4 right outside linebacker.  The Chargers could use a major pass rushing upgrade at the linebacker position.

30. Detroit Lions 5-0 Mike Adams Left Tackle Ohio State Senior Detroit may draft Mike Adams with this selection hoping to groom a blindside for Matthew Stafford once Jeff Backus gets older.

The interior offensive line has been flawless when pass blocking this season.  Jeff Backus allowed 3 sacks against the Minnesota Vikings.  Gosder Cherillus allowed 2 sacks against the Vikings and 1 sack against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night.

31. New England Patriots 4-1 Mark Barron Strong Safety Alabama Senior Josh Barrett is not  a long term answer as a starting strong safety.  Mark Barron would be a huge upgrade over Mark Barrett.

32. Green Bay Packers 5-0 Kheeston Randall 3-4 Left End Texas Senior Kheeston Randall is a 4-3 defensive tackle who has played everywhere on the defensive line in the 3-4 scheme.  Randall has played 3-4 right end, 3-4 left end, and 3-4 nose tackle.

Randall weighs 6 foot 5 305 pounds.  Randall relies more on his finesse moves rather than utilizing power moves to get to the quarterback.  Since Randall has more success using his finesse moves to pursuit the quarterback he should be best used a a 5 technique defensive end in a 3-4 scheme.

The Green Bay Packers recently lost a 5 technique defensive end in Cullen Jenkins.  Randall could provide the exact same impact that Jenkins provided as a 3-4 right end.  Randall would start out as a left end eventually moving into the 3-4 right role over time.

Round 2

33. Indianapolis Colts David DeCastro Right Guard Junior Redshirt Stanford Anthony Costanzo will be the Colts left tackle.  Jeff Linkenbach was an undrafted pick in 2010.  Linkenbach is developing into a quality bookend for Costanzo at right tackle with the experience he is gaining at left tackle during Costazno’s injury.  Ben Ijalana could plug himself into a left guard role .  Jeff Saturday will likely play center with Mike Pollak being Saturday’s successor.  Ryan Diem moved inside to right guard after playing right tackle in 2010.

The Colts have an injured right guard in Ryan Diem who was a right tackle a year ago in 2010.  Diem is already showing signs that he is past his prime.  The Colts may want to get one of Andrew Luck’s teammates on the Colts offensive line should they opt to draft Andrew Luck with the #1 overall pick.

David DeCastro is a mammoth run blocker who knows how to execute pancake blocks while pushing defenders backwards in run support.  David DeCastro would give the Colts their first legit run blocking right guard since Jake Scott.

34. Miami Dolphins 0-4 Tyler Eifert Tight End Notre Dame Junior Its uncertain whether Tyler Eifert returns to Notre Dame for his senior campaign or ends up declaring.  Miami will need a tight end for Matt Barkley to throw to.  Eifert would make a great receiving target for the Dolphins down the road.

35. St. Louis Rams 0-4 Mohammed Sanu Wide Receiver Rutgers Junior Rutgers receiver Mohammed Sanu has dominated for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights this season.  Sanu is the main reason why the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are performing so well.  Rutgers only loss came in a road contest where the Tar Heels barely edged out Rutgers 24 to 22.

Sanu had his coming out party against the Ohio Bobcats where Sanu recorded 16 receptions for 176 receiving yards, with 2 receiving touchdowns, while averaging 11 yards per catch.  Sanu’s performance in that contest against Ohio had Speakeasy Mag columnists who write for the Bobcats student produced Web Magazine take notice.

Through 5 games Sanu has recorded 45 receptions, for 455 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns.  That’s an average of 9 receptions, 91 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown per game.

Mike Simms Walker has not been as promising as anticipated.  Danario Alexander is good.  The problem with Alexander is he sustains injuries sometimes.

A receiver like Mohammed Sanu who can get 9 receptions, for 91 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown per game is exactly what Sam Bradford needs to make his job more convenient in St. Louis.

36. Jacksonville Jaguars 1-4 Stephon Gilmore Cornerback South Carolina Junior Remember in August when Jaguars fans mocked Gilmore to the Jaguars i round 1?  Neither do I because I have Gilmore going to the Jaguars in round 2 of my current mock draft.

37. Denver Broncos 1-4 Alfonzo Dennard Cornerback Nebraska Senior Denver drafts the Nebraska cornerback if he falls this far because they believe Dennard can develop into a #1 cornerback for the future.

38. Philadelphia Eagles from Arizona Cardinals 1-4 Riley Reiff Right Tackle Iowa Junior Redshirt Riley Reiff left the Penn State game on Saturday with the injury.  Details about the injury are unknown at this point.  For now, I got Reiff projected as an early 2nd round prospect even though I would take him with a top 20 pick.  Reiff can play left tackle or right tackle.  Reiff’s pass blocking ability is a much needed addition to the Eagles offensive line.

39. Carolina Panthers 1-4 Travis Lewis Right Outside Linebacker Oklahoma Senior Redshirt Travis Lewis was supposed to be out for 8 weeks.  He recovered from his injury and got to play a few downs against Florida State.  Lewis is a very tough and competitive right outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme.  Carolina has addressed most of their concerns on the defensive line so right outside linebacker may be the next direction for the Panthers to take.

40. Philadelphia Eagles 1-4 Ronnell Lewis Left Outside Linebacker Oklahoma Junior The Eagles could use more than one linebacker.  A sam linebacker like Ronnell Lewis may help the Eagles put their 4-3 linebacker personnel together once and for all.

41. Minnesota Vikings 1-4 Ryan Broyles Wide Receiver Oklahoma Senior Redshirt Ryan Broyles may not have high NFL potential.  That does not change the fact that Broyles is a gamer on Saturday’s.  Ryan Broyles may be the best natural route running receiver in the country.  Broyles had a monster game torching the Longhorn’s secondary.  This does not change the fact that the Longhorns lost not 1, not 2, but 3 cornerbacks to the 2011 NFL Draft.

Broyles could become the Viking’s route runner secondary receiver for Ponder while Percy Harvin is that vertical deep threat flanker receiver by stretching the field.  Ponder would have a flanker deep threat and a route runner who could open up the deep passing game with his short and medium route running.  This is what Brady had with Moss and Welker on the late 2000′s Patriot rosters.

Shiancoe and Kyle Rudolph could line up in 2 tight end sets for Ponder the way Gronkowski and Hernandez line up in 2 tight end sets for Tom Brady.  Having this much built around your passing game along with Adrian Peterson at running back gives the Vikings a deadly offense if Ponder makes the transition to the NFL.

42. Seattle Seahawks 2-3 Kevin Zeitler Right Guard Wisconsin Senior Drafting Zeitler would allow John Moffitt to move to his position at left guard.  The other benefit this reaps is it allows the 2 Badger guards to be reunited in Seattle opening up running lanes for California teammate backs Marshawn Lynce and Justin Forsett.

43. Chicago Bears 2-3 TJ McDonald Free Safety USC Junior In this situation the Bears know that the Chiefs will attempt to draft free safety TJ McDonald.  The Bears prevent the Chiefs from drafting the free safety because their team also needs an upgrade at the position.

The Chicago Bears have 2 free safeties who used to play college ball in the state of Florida with Gator free safety Major Wright and former Hurricane Brandon Meriweather.  Meriweather needs to go and drafting Major Wright was a Major Mistake.

The Chicago Bears can correct this mistake by adding TJ McDonald to their roster in the 2nd round.

44. Kansas City Chiefs 2-3 Donta Hightower 3-4 Middle Linebacker Alabama Junior Redshirt The Chiefs could use a 2nd 3-4 middle linebacker to pair up with Derrick Johnson on their roster.  Donta Hightower provides good value with this selection.

45. New York Jets 2-3 Nico Johnson 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker Alabama Junior Rex Ryan gets the Jets a pass rusher that their organization desperately needs in round 2.

46. Atlanta Falcons 2-3 Dwayne Allen Tight End Clemson Junior Redshirt The Atlanta Falcons need a tight end who can become the successor to Tony Gonzalez long term.

47. Cleveland Browns 2-2 Chase Minnifield Cornerback Virginia Senior Redshirt Chase Minnifield is the son of former Browns pro bowl cornerback Frank Minnifield.  Can you imagine how difficult it will be for teams to throw on either Joe Haden or Chase Minnifield?

48. Dallas Cowboys 2-2 Ray Ray Armstrong Strong Safety Miami FL Junior The Dallas Cowboys draft a strong safety to continue developing their secondary.  Ray Ray Armstrong is the best strong safety available.

49. Cincinnati Bengals 3-2 Andre Ellington Running Back Clemson Junior Andre Ellington has 528 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns through 6 games.  Ellington has had a rushing touchdown in each of the last 5 games.  Ellington may be undersized at 5 foot 10 190 pounds.  Ellington could add 20 pounds by the time the 2012 NFL Combine rolls around.  Or Ellington could wow you with his 4o time despite his lack of size.

Either way Ellington is performing extremely promising and nobody is talking about Ellington right now.  Would Clemson be 6-0 without Andre Ellington?  I highly doubt it.

50. New England Patriots from Oakland Raiders 3-2 Jared Crick Defensive Tackle Nebraska Senior Redshirt Jared Crick could become an effective 4-3 defensive tackle/5 technique player as a 3-4 right end.  Crick seems like the defensive tackle that would entice Belicheck if he fell this far in the 2nd round.

51. Tennessee Titans 3-2 Baker Steinkuhler Defensive Tackle Nebraska Junior Redshirt The Tennessee Titans draft Baker Steinkuhler using this pick for depth.

52. New York Giants 3-2 Tyrdreke Powell Defensive Tackle North Carolina Senior The Giants use this pick to add another defensive tackle for depth mainly due to all the early preseason injuries that occurred with Giants defensive tackles.  Tydreke Powell is a legit 2nd round defensive tackle prospect and there appear to be no major concerns with Powel

53. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-2 Zach Brown Right Outside Linebacker North Carolina Senior Zach Brown could become an effective weak side linebacker to Mason Foster.  With Brown and Foster the Buccaneers would finally have the linebackers to make a strong playoff run.

54. Pittsburgh Steelers 3-2 Alameda Ta’amu Nose Tackle Washington Senior Alameda Ta’amu is 6 foot 3 337 pound nose tackle for the Washington Huskies.  Ta’amu is a 2nd round prospect who plays in a 3-4 defense at Washington.  Some people have Ta’amu graded out as a first round prospect.  Ta’amu could earn first round consideration with 2 strong November performances against Oregon and USC to wrap up the season.  LaMichael James and Marc Tyler are two draft prospects in the Pac 12 who may test Ta’amu’s ability to clog lanes as a run stuffer.

Casey Hampton is aging and he will not be around forever.  There is one nose tackle in this draft class who I can see having a pro bowl type of impact.  That player is Alameda Ta’amu.

55. Houston Texans 3-2 Nico Johnson 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Alabama Junior Connor Barwin has struggled in as a 3-4 outside linebacker.  Mario Williams is out for the season and in a contract year.  Brooks Reid may be a quality starter, but it could not hurt to have another pass rusher like Nico Johnson on the Texans for depth.  Imagine what this Texans pass rush can do with a healthy Williams, Reid, and Nico Johnson.

56. Washington Redskins 3-1 Juron Criner Wide Receiver Arizona Senior If Washington drafts Landry Jones this late, he will want his own receiver to throw to.

57. Baltimore Ravens 3-1 Bobbie Massie Right Tackle Ole Miss Junior Bobbie Massie also went to the same school as Michael Oher AKA “The Blindside”.  After this year Oher could move back to left tackle prompting the Ravens to pursue Bobbie Massie, the Ole Miss right tackle.

Who knows, maybe Disney makes a sequel to their hit movie “The Blindside” by mentioning the importance of the right tackle position talking about how Bobbie Massie had to fill in for Oher once Oher left.  Disney can call this film “The Bookend”

58. San Francisco 49ers 4-1 Janoris Jenkins Cornerback Northern Alabama Senior In this position the 49ers have the luxury of taking the best player available.  In this case that player would be Janoris Jenkins from Northern Alabama.  I mocked Trumaine Johnson to the 49ers in round 1 so if the 49ers opt to go with an FCS player in Johnson they may opt to double dip at cornerback drafting Janoris Jenkins as a nickel cornerback in the 2nd round.

This pick would give the 49ers insurance because if Trumaine Johnson flops at corner and loses the #2 corner job to Janoris Jenkins you just move him to free safety another position he can naturally play.

59. Buffalo Bills 4-1 Nate Potter Right Guard Boise State Senior Redshirt Nate Potter would be a huge upgrade over the teams current right guard situation with Kraig Urbick and Chad Reinhart.

60. New Orleans Saints 4-1 Matt Reynolds Right Tackle BYU Senior Redshirt The Saints will likely pursue a right tackle who could be a bookend to Jermon Bushrod who is Drew Brees’s blindside at left tackle.

61. San Diego Chargers 4-1 Levi Adcock Right Tackle Oklahoma State Senior Redshirt Even though the Chargers resigned Jerome Clary it does not change the fact that San Diego needs to bring in a right tackle to challenge Clary for his job.

62. Detroit Lions 5-0 Cliff Harris Cornerback Oregon Junior I believe Cliff Harris will flop.  Regardless of what I believe, if Harris falls past the top 60 picks then the Lions may select him hoping he develops into Detroit’s #1 shutdown cornerback.

63. New England Patriots 4-1 Desmond Trufant Cornerback Washington Junior Washington junior Desmond Trufant has the upside and potential to become a #2 cornerback next to Devin McCourty.  Trufant is a Boundary corner who is best suited in the NFL playing a #2 cornerback role.

64. Green Bay Packers 5-0 Donte Paige Moss 3-4 Right Outside Linebacker North Carolina Junior Donte Paige Moss was once a top 10 pick.  Now he is a borderline 2nd round pick who could fall to round 3.  Green Bay would take a chance on Donte Paige Moss hoping he translates taking away some of the double teams that Clay Matthews is receiving.

Round 3

65. Indianapolis Colts 0-5 Omar Bolden Cornerback Arizona State Senior The Colts use this 3rd round selection to obtain a cornerback who could become an effective boundary corner for the Colts when healthy.

66. Miami Dolphins 0-4 Eddie Whitley Free Safety Virginia Tech Senior The Dolphins use this 3rd round selection on Eddie Whitley.  The Dolphins could use a safety and Whitley provides 2nd round talent.

67. St. Louis Rams 0-4 Chris Polk Running Back Washington Junior Redshirt The Rams use this pick on a running back who can split carries with Steven Jackson eventually overtaking Jackson as the #1 back in St. Louis.

68. Jacksonville Jaguars 1-4 Kenny Tate Free Safety Maryland Senior Kenny Tate has experience playing anywhere on defense at Maryland.  Since Tate has no natural position he may just play a safety role in the NFL.  Kenny Tate would be an effective free safety for the Jaguars.

69. Denver Broncos 1-4 Jaye Howard Defensive Tackle Florida Senior Redshirt The Broncos need a defensive tackle to boost their defensive line.

70. Arizona Cardinals 1-4 Elvis Fisher Right Tackle Missouri Senior Redshirt The offensive tackle situation in Arizona is so dire that the Cardinals need 2 offensive tackles.

71. Chicago Bears from Carolina Panthers 1-4 Michael Egnew Tight End Missouri Senior Michael Egnew is a 2nd round prospect.  The Bears traded Greg Olsen to Carolina for this draft selection in 2012.  How has that turned out so far?

72. Philadelphia Eagles 1-4 William Vlachos Center Alabama Senior Redshirt William Vlachos may be undersized.  He has the ability to become a starter center in Philadelphia if he bulks up adding some weight.

73. Minnesota Vikings 1-4 Sean Spence Right Outside Linebacker Miami FL Senior The Vikings will use this pick on a weak side linebacker who can boost the play of the 4-3 defense.  Sean Spence would provide terrific value for the Minnesota Vikings int the 3rd round.  Chad Greenway is better at playing a SAM role while EJ Henderson should be playing the MIKE role in a 4-3 defense.

74. Seattle Seahawks 2-3 Andre Branch Right End Clemson Senior Redshirt The Seahawks can make do with Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond as potential #2 cornerbacks for now.  Red Bryant has the size of a nose tackle and he plays the 4-3 right end role.  The Seahawks need to replace him with a sack artist pass rusher who can command double teams.

Andre Branch played the right end role the year DeQuan Bowers led the NCAA in sacks.  Branch’s ability to command double teams gave Bowers a lot of opportunities to capitalize.  Seattle loves run stuffing right ends who command double teams.

Andre Branch may be a late first round talent.  The reason Branch falls to the 3rd round is because most teams have their 4-3 right end pass rusher.

75. Chicago Bears 2-3 Jeff Fuller Wide Receiver Texas A&M Senior Jeff Fuller has the ability and skill set to develop into a flanker receiver in the NFL.  Fuller has the speed and route running that you look for in your primary wide receiver.  Fuller looked bad on tape against Texas Tech on Saturday which is why Fuller got pushed down to a 3rd round prospect.  Chicago drafts Jeff Fuller with this selection potentially ending up with a major steal at the wide receiver position.

76. Kansas City Chiefs 2-3 Aaron Henry Free Safety Wisconsin Senior Redshirt The Chiefs use this selection to get a starter at the free safety position.

77. New York Jets Devin Taylor 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker South Carolina Junior Redshirt The New York Jets need 2 pass rushing outside linebackers.  Devin Taylor would be a good value selection for a pass rusher in the 3rd round.

78. Atlanta Falcons 2-3 Melvin Ingram Right End South Carolina Senior Redshirt Melvin Ingram was a player that I had graded out as a first round talent.  He could fall to round 3 though.  There is always a possibility of teammate pass rusher Devin Taylor getting selected ahead of Ingram.

This would be the perfect situation for Atlanta.  Melvin Ingram would sit behind Jonathan Abraham for a few seasons until he develops as a player.

79. Cleveland Browns 2-2 Rashard Hall Free Safety Clemson Junior Redshirt The junior redshirt ree safety Rashard Hall could provide some quality depth for the Cleveland Browns at safety.

80. Dallas Cowboys 2-2 Chase Thomas 3-4 Left Outside Linebacker Stanford Junior Redshirt The Dallas Cowboys use this pick to bring in some pass rushing competition for Anthony Spencer.

81. Cincinnati Bengals 3-2 Vince Browne Right End Northwestern Senior Redshirt The Bengals could use another pass rushing right end for depth.  Vince Browne is the best available player here.

82. Tennessee Titans 3-2 Dwight Jones Wide Receiver North Carolina Senior Dwight Jones has the size that the Titans need for a red zone target.  This Titans passing attack could accomplish great things with a healthy Kenny Britt, Dwigh Jones as a secondary target, and Nate Washington competing with Damian Williams for the slot.

83. New York Giants 3-2 Christine Michael Running Back Texas A&M Junior Christine Michael could be a 3rd round pick if he declares.  The Giants draft Michael here simply because he adds more depth to the running game.  With no left guards or centers worth taking here the Giants are forced to turn to a play maker for Eli in the running game or the passing game with this selection.

84. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 3-2 Cyrus Gray Running Back Texas A&M Senior Texas A&M back Cyrus Gray would provide a nice compliment to LeGarrette Blount.  The Aggies running back could really benefit how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers utilize their 2 running backs with a thunder and lightning running back tandem.

85. Pittsburgh Steelers 3-2 Jerry Franklin 3-4 Middle Linebacker Arkansas Senior Redshirt The Steelers may put their faith in Stevenson Sylvester to win the starting job once Farrior leaves.  I personally think that’s a foolish decision because Sylvester never played in a 3-4 scheme at Utah.  Pittsburgh may bring in some competition and depth for Sylvester with this pick.  Farrior is 37 and Larry Foote is getting pretty old too.

Michael Dyer a 2013 first round running back prospect had over 100 rushing yards against Arkansas last Saturday.  Franklin still played a pretty good game though.  Franklin had a season high 15 tackles with 5 solo tackles and 10 assisted tackles.

Getting 15 tackles on a future first round rusher shows that you deserve a chance to fight for a starting job in this league.

86. Houston Texans 3-2 Josh Chapman Nose Tackle Alabama Senior Redshirt The Texans like scouting nose tackles in the Southern Region.  Outside of Alameda Ta’amu, Josh Chapman may arguably be the top ranked nose tackle in this draft class.

87. Washington Redskins 3-1 Kerry Murphy Nose Tackle Alabama Junior Redshirt The Redskins get a nose tackle for depth even though they know he will never start as long as he is on Washington.  Teams always make head scratching picks on draft day.  The problem NFL Draft experts have as draftniks is determining where those head scratching picks occur in our mock drafts.  This timing for head scratcher pick is just about right here.

88. Baltimore Ravens 3-1 Tony Dye Strong Safety UCLA Senior The Ravens get a strong safety for depth behind Tony Zbikowski now that Dawan Landry is gone.

89. San Francisco 49ers 4-1 Greg Childs Wide Receiver Arkansas Senior Jim Harbaugh drafts another receiver gadget to increase the morale of Harbaugh’s offensive genius in San Francisco.  How are the 49ers 4-1?  Every week I  pick against the 49ers they win.  When I pick the 49ers they lose.  The only game I picked the 49ers they lost.

Harbaugh has revived Alex Smith’s career from the dead one year after I boldy picked the 49ers to make Super Bowl 45 as a preseason pick losing to the Baltimore Ravens.  I had New England and Atlanta getting home field.  To anyone’s consolation I made these picks one week after the 2010 NFL Draft so its hard to take either of those preseason picks seriously.

90. Buffalo Bills 4-1 Kirk Cousins Quarterback Michigan State Senior The Bills may get a developmental quarterback with this pick.  I know Ryan Fitzpatrick is off to a monster start.  What if Fitzpatrick reverts to his 2009 or 2010 form in the 2013-2014 regular season?  By drafting Kirk Cousins you have insurance along with a backup who has been on the sidelines for 2 seasons ready to step in when the proper time arrives.

91. New Orleans Saints 4-1 Ty Hilton Wide Receiver Florida International Senior The Saints will use this selection just to give Drew Brees another receiver for depth.  There are no defensive tackles or linebackers worth taking at this spot so I just decide to give Brees another playmaker.

92. San Diego Chargers 4-1 David Paulson Tight End Oregon Senior Redshirt Antonio Gates will not be around forever plus Randy McMichael is not a long term option.  Plus you also have to account for the fact that a lot of the NFL’s talented starter quarterbacks utilize 2 tight end sets calling plays now and then with 2 tight ends on the field.

Aaron Rodgers uses superstar tight end Jermichael Finley and Super Bowl 45 starter Andrew Quarless.  Tom Brady has the tandem of 2010 draft picks with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.  Drew Brees has Jimmy Graham and  David Thomas who helped the Saints win Super Bowl 45.  Joe Flacco has Ed Dickson and Dennis Pitta when healthy.  Tony Romo has Jason Witten and Martellus Bennet.  Josh Freeman has Kellen Winslow and Luke Stocker.  Minnesota has Shiancoe and Kyle Rudolph.  Seattle’s   Cam Newton has Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey.  Heck, even Alex Smith has a decent tight end duo with Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker.  Grossman has Chris Cooley and Fred Davis when healthy.

You could make the argument that having multiple tight ends boosts your chances of scoring in the red zone if your quarterback can execute the necessary throws in the red zone.  Were seeing more and more teams take a page from Belicheck’s playbook incorporating team plays that revolve around multiple tight ends.

Antonio Gates is injured and Randy McMichael is near retirement.  David Paulson has the skill set of a #2 blocking tight end.  San Diego could take a chance on him hoping he develops into a #1 tight end.

93. Detroit Lions 5-0 James Michael Johnson Middle Linebacker Nevada Senior Redshirt James Michael Johnson had at least 5 or 6 good tackles against UNLV in Nevada’s shutout over UNLV.  Stephen Tulloch will remain the starter at middle linebacker, but James Michael Johnson could be a good depth player at middle linebacker who could step up when injuries linger.

94. New England Patriots 4-1 Ryan Miller Right Guard Colorado Senior Redshirt Ryan Miller could end up playing next to Colorado teammate Nate Soldier at right guard if New England keeps Matt Light after 2011 or moves Vulmer to left tackle.

95. Green Bay Packers 5-0 Coryell Judie Cornerback Texas A&M Senior Redshirt The Packers add another corner to boost their pass defense.  The Packers have enough cornerback depth right now when healthy for dime situations.  Judie has the ability to contribute right away as a corner in quarters packages potentially working his way up Green Bay’s depth chart.

15 Rants to “2012 NFL Mock Draft Weekly Update #5”

  1. jay says:

You have to be the worst writer ever and drafter. Tim tebow better than newton because he startes over him in college? He was a freshman tebow was an upperclassmen and y would carolina select micheal floyd he doesnt have the speed or gos given talent that blackmon and jeffery have dude get out of here.

    • Chris Ransom says:

Tebow’s first 4 games 12 total touchdowns 3 interceptions. 6 passing touchdowns 3 interceptions. Newton’s first 4 games. 9 total touchdowns, 5 interceptions. Newton had 5 passing touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Tebow has less to work with than Newton too. Tebow is greater than Newton based on each quarterback’s first 4 games. The numbers illustrate my argument for me. Some people are smart. These people can comprehend the big picture. Then the funny part is that there are simpleton fans who just misspell words attempting their best NFL Game Center impression with typos trying to call me out by making really weak NFL arguments. Floyd’s numbers are better than Blackmon’s at this point. You’re going to see other sites put Floyd ahead of Blackmon this week. Then your going to wonder why you called me out in the first place.

  2. Big Dave says:

Haha….. Newton is doing un-heard-of things for a rookie.. quickly becoming one of the most dynamic players in the NFL… Tebows mechanics are really a joke.. Youll eat your works when timmy is playing in the CFL…

    • Chris Ransom says:

Maybe I will regret saying what I did about Tebow>Newton. That’s the risk you take when you make a bold prediction. I want to stick to my gut and I cannot respect someone who flip flops. So if Tebow does better like I am stating he will don’t come jumping on the Tebow bandwagon like some posers that’s all. If Newton does better it means I am wrong about Tebow/Newton and that’s that. Right now its too early to tell even though Tebow looks better so watching the situation play out will be the fun part.

  3. F is to go fuck yourself says:

Dude really u think dat pieace of trash tebow is better than newton u must b on sum good shit or watching a whole difference game and tha worst part about it is dat hate cam newton and sayin dis

  4. Kyle says:

Chances that the Ravens leave that many MLB on the table this year is 0. Ray Lewis is one ring from riding off into the sunset, and 3 years max if that doesn’t happen. Gooden was cut this year so looking for that next player to step in for ray is critical

    • Chris Ransom says:

I agree that middle linebacker is the Ravens biggest need. Its just when the Ravens picked the only middle linebacker there were 2nd round talents available in round 1, 3rd round talents in round 2, 3rd round talents in round 4.

  5. Logan says:

Like the Colts picks. I think Irsay and Polian are committed to Luck because of the BPA philosophy. I still think the Colts take DeCastro in the second, but Linkenbach will probably be a backup tackle and Ijalana will play right tackle, assuming he returns to from from his ACL injury. Before the season the Colts planned to replace Link with Ijalana. I like the pick of CB in the third, but think Fuller could also be a good pickup there, especially with three WRs going to free agency.

  6. Patrick says:

I disagree with all of your picks for the Bengals. You don’t seem to understand that D-Line is our deepest position and that there are other pressing needs. Cincinnati’s needs are CB, S, Future LT, and RG/RT (depending on what happens with Andre Smith.)Andre Ellington is not a good fit in our offense because we already have Leonard and Scott as change of pace backs. Lamar Miller on the other hand has the size and ability to replace Cedric Benson as he is not only getting older, he’s mediocre and a locker room cancer.

    • Chris Ransom says:

The Bengals pass defense is one of the best in the league. Defensive line can be a strong position in terms of depth at defensive end. I still feel like the Bengals lack a true defensive tackle. A nickel corner for the future is a priority in Cincinnati. I could see the Bengals getting a backup tackle. Lamar Miller will likely wait until 2013 to declare. I have the Bengals taking a defensive tackle in round 1 and then best player available from that point on.

  7. justin says:

here is what i have for miami 1st: Andrew Luck 2nd: Dwayne Allen TE from clemson and 3rd: Mike Adams from Ohio State or Ricky Wagner from Wisconsin(mark columbo sucks and would be a total shock if they didnt draft a replacement). I would also like to say miami already has a free safety but he has been injured since preseason so although its possible they would take a free safety i highly doubt it. reason why i say miami gets luck is because indy has a good coaching staff, wide receivers and good DE’s, which will win games by themselves. Miami isnt so talented and i wouldnt be surprised if they go 3-13 or worse. other than that i liked ur article it looks like u put alot of time and research into this. thanks for writing!!!

  8. Steve says:

    Chris,

    your numbers are misleading.

Keep in mind that Newton is playing against 1st team defenses, most of Tebow’s stats are in “Junk Time”, when the game has already be decided.

I like Tebow and I am rooting for him, but the does not have half the talent that Cam does.

also; BROWNS take Jeffery and Claiborne

    • Chris Ransom says:

While Newton is going against legit first team defenses. Tebow went up against a top 10 defense in San Diego looking pretty well. I still like Tebow over Newton at this point.

    • Chris Ransom says:

One thing I dislike about Tebow VS Newton is that Tebow gets heat even when he puts in a quality effort even though he is posting better numbers at this point. When Newton loses he gets the benefit of the doubt. Isn’t the #1 pick supposed to have higher expectations on their shoulders from a fans and media standpoint? Everyone seems to be giving Newton a hall pass since he’s in his rookie year, but expecting a lot out of Tebow since they don’t believe Tebow is the long term answer.
