The San Antonio Spurs, for once, are coming off a rather disappointing postseason appearance. Add that to the fact that some of the team’s most important players are not getting any younger, and it is evident that the Spurs have to make some changes over the offseason. One of those changes could be gaining LaMarcus Aldridge‘s services.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the team is more likely to go after Aldridge than Marc Gasol.
Here’s what Stein had to say when talking about Aldridge being pursued over Gasol this summer:
Yet it’s premature to try to establish the Spurs as some sort of favorite to steal him away, since they’re also widely expected to focus first on the guy perceived as this summer’s more gettable superstar: Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge.
The Spurs would certainly be doing right by going after either player, but Aldridge seems like the more obvious choice as of right now. Coming off a first-round exit in the playoffs, something has to be done.
Aldridge averaged a monster 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this past season.
Tim Duncan is not getting any younger and he will give up the game he loves sooner rather than later. For the time being, Aldridge would be the perfect replacement at the power forward position. The 29-year-old is no stranger to putting the ball in the hoop at a high rate and he clearly gets boards.
Either way, landing Gasol or Aldridge would bolster any roster.
