What Should the Expectations For the Florida State Seminoles Be in the ACC?

Florida State Seminoles

Phil Sears-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida State Seminoles finished with an 18-16 record overall and a 9-9 ACC record last season and they were supposed to compete for a conference title. With plenty of talent leaving in the 2013-14 college basketball season, it could get bad for the Seminoles. So, what should the expectations for the team be in the ACC in the upcoming season?

They should be expected to challenge the top teams for a conference title… not.

Duke, North Carolina and Syracuse will be ranked in the top 10 to tip off the season or at least they should be.

Florida State, on the other hand, should feel really good if it even finishes in the top five of the conference standings.

If the Seminoles’ highly rated recruit can come in and have a huge impact and if other players can step up as well, we could see the team sneak into the top five of the conference standings. However, other teams would have to disappoint for that to happen.

Finishing right outside of the top seven teams should be expected out of Florida State, though. If I had to guess, I would think that something has to give. In other words, I think Florida State will either exceed expectations or it will be much worse than what we anticipated.

Being No. 8 or No. 7 in the ACC standings could easily happen though.

This will be an interesting team to watch in the upcoming season and although it will not be expected to do much, it could always overachieve… or underachieve.
