Buddy Hield Says No To NBA Draft, Will Be POY Candidate Entering 2015-16

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Should I stay or should I go?

That definitely had to be going through Oklahoma Sooners guard Buddy Hield‘s head when he was trying to decide his future. Hield could have entered the 2015 NBA Draft, but he didn’t. He could have been drafted in the late first round or early second round, but he decided to come back for his senior year instead.

Hield’s return will do wonders for the Sooners, and it will also lead to him being a Player of the Year candidate entering the 2015-16 college basketball season. Hield was the Big 12 Player of the Year this past season, after all.

Hield is coming off a season in which he averaged 17.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He also made 93 shots from behind the arc while shooting 35.9 percent from that same distance.

It will be interesting to see how this affects Hield’s stock, but he can worry about that next year around this same time. Now, it is time for Hield to get to work, improve his skills and help lead Oklahoma to a Big 12 title. If that actually does happen, he should have no problem being in the running for the POY award.

This is an interesting choice by the Sooner since he would have been drafted, but another solid year in college hoops can only help him at this point.

On Saturday, Simmons dropped this epic reverse slam dunk all over the Oklahoma Sooners and nearly led the Tigers to a win over the No. 1 ranked team in America.
