It hasn’t been the best season for the storied Nebraska Cornhuskers program. Starting with losses, the current head coach of the football program has been in the midst of controversy all season long because of a tape that was released, revealing him a couple years before cursing about the lack of fan support and calling his fans profane names. Bo Pelini is the man on tape and the head coach has been caught murmuring many negative and dumb comments.
You might think it was already bad after that tape was released and after he told the media that the program didn’t need former star quarterback Tommie Frazier‘s support of the program after he spoke ill of the defense after a 41-21 blowout loss to the UCLA Bruins at home. However, things just got worse after a loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the final game of the 2013 regular season at home.
The 8-4 Cornhuskers lost two of their final three games to end the year and it looks like they will be hoping and praying for a solid bowl bid after losing the border battle. How could Pelini have lost his job over some comments he made in the post-game press conference? Well, read what he said about him being on the hot seat:
“It’s been a distraction. It’s hurt our football team. If they wanna fire me go ahead.”
Well, that’s no way to keep a job.
It looks like Pelini’s reign as head coach of the Cornhuskers will end after going 57-24 in six seasons at the school and a 17-7 record in Big Ten play. While his numbers aren’t terrible, he has lost control over this team with those comments and daring your boss to fire you when you’re replaceable isn’t the smartest idea.
These dumb comments are the end to the Pelini reign as we know it.
