In his first five years as head coach, Sean Payton has led the New Orleans Saints to three playoff appearances and even managed to win the Super Bowl two years ago. Now, it looks like the Saints will have Payton around for at least five more seasons.

On Monday, the Saints rewarded their beloved head coach with an extension that runs through the 2015 season, according to the team site.

The Saints & Coach Sean Payton have agreed to terms on a new contract that will extend through the 2015 season.

It’s safe to say Payton is the most successful coach in the franchise’s history considering his 49-31 record during the regular season as head coach to go along with his postseason accomplishments. Now that they took care of Payton, don’t be surprised if the Saints focus their attention on an extension for Drew Brees considering he’s entering the final year of his contract.
