Yesterday as we all know Sean Avery was the last cut made by the New York Rangers, now it has just been announced that he cleared waivers.  The question now is will Avery report to Rangers’ AHL affialite the Connecticut Whale.

Avery’s agent, Pat Morris, told ESPN.com that his client is looking at all of his options which include playing in Europe or in the AHL if necessary.  Avery would have to play in the AHL if he wants to collect his entire salary for the year unless the Blueshirts can work out a deal with a team in Europe.  Don’t fret Rangers fans the team isn’t on the hook for the entire four-million this year, the Dallas Stars are on the hook for half since they placed him on re-entry waivers.

I think the best option for Avery obviously would be to play in Europe, but I’m not sure how many teams overseas would have a need for his style of play.  I am sure some team might be interested in him simply from a name standpoint, but I think he will end up in the AHL and will quietly take his paycheck.

I think for a financial stanpoint,Avery is better off playing out the season in Hartford and then sign a deal with a team in the KHL. Team Lokomotive have been decimated as the result of the trajick accident earlier this year and they need to restock their roster. I hope Avery will wind up in the NHL.sometime next year because he does have talant and I for one would like to see him rub sult in Tortarella’s nose. That egotistical dirthbag deserve everithing bad that comes his way.
