Brady signs four-year extension with Patriots

Instead of adding three years to his current contract, the New England Patriots signed quarterback Tom Brady to a four-year extension instead. The extension is worth $72 million–$48.5 million guaranteed—and will make Brady the highest paid player in the NFL. Earlier this week, reports indicated Brady and the Pats were close to a three-year deal that would have been worth $58 million. Instead, this new deal will keep Brady in New England through the 2014 season. Brady was entering the final year of his contract and expected to earn $6.5 million this upcoming season.
