Baltimore Ravens

Another Sunday, another tough test for the defending champion Baltimore Ravens as they take on the Green Bay Packers at home. The Ravens are coming off of a gritty road win against the Miami Dolphins and will look to keep the momentum going this week before a three-game stretch against all the their AFC North rivals. Hopefully this week we’ll learn a little more about this 2013 Ravens team, because I’m still not quite sure what to make of them. This game against the Packers could go a few different ways.

The first scenario involves Aaron Rodgers going off with the Ravens unable to stop anything they do. The Packers get a couple of quick scores and the trouble begins. This scenario seems unlikely, especially in Baltimore.

The next scenario is a defense-doesn’t-matter crazy shootout game. Kind of like the Denver Broncos/Dallas Cowboys game from last week, except on a smaller scale than that. This definitely has the potential to be a classic good Joe Flacco game; he does have a few of those haters every year. Of course, he usually has at least four bad Flacco games too. Week 4 against the Buffalo Bill for example.

Another scenario is one of those classic 200-yard rushing games from the Ravens where Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce run all over the Packers and break a couple of big runs. The Packers do have the fifth best rushing defense coming into this game, but will be without Pro Bowler Clay Matthews. This scenario is possible, but I don’t see it happening.

The final scenario for this game, and the one I actually see happening, is basically an even game that will be turned with a defensive or special-teams touchdown for the Ravens. Even better would be a blocked punt touchdown; home teams never lose when that happens. This should be a fun and close game all the way through. I’m giving the slight edge to the home underdog Ravens, though.
