The Buffalo Bills have a tough task ahead of them this week when they face off against the Kansas City Chiefs at home in western New York.
The Chiefs are all of a sudden one of the hottest teams in the NFL after winning their third-straight game last week, following a 2-3 start. Buffalo has won two-straight games as both teams come in with a 5-3 record.
The key for Buffalo will be to get running back Anthony Dixon going early despite the fact that he’s only averaging 3.7 yards per carry since he’s been a starter. He didn’t play well against the New York Jets last week while averaging only two yards a carry. The good news is that quarterback Kyle Orton and the Bills’ passing game bailed them out and threw the ball all over the Jets.
The Chiefs are coming in with one of the stingiest pass defenses in the league right now while giving up less than 200 yards a game through the air on a weekly basis.
On the other hand, Kansas City is ranked 19th in the NFL against the run as opposing teams are averaging 119 yards per game against them.
With C.J. Spiller done for the season and the ageless Fred Jackson not ready to come back from a groin injury, Dixon is the guy who needs to get the job done in order to take the pressure off Orton and Buffalo’s passing game.
While Bryce Brown has looked good at times when he’s come in to spell Dixon, he’s actually been less productive overall, which doesn’t help. Therefore, Dixon is the key to Buffalo’s victory hopes in Week 10.
