With one of the worst rosters in the NFL, the Washington Redskins need to make major changes this offseason if they want to become relevant again in 2015. The Redskins are always big players in free agency, and despite a less-than-ideal cap situation, expect Washington to once again be busy in 2015 free agency. With that said, here are five free agents the Redskins should target.

The inside linebacker position is one the Redskins need to upgrade this offseason. Perry Riley is decent, but the team needs to add another solid inside linebacker beside him. Colin McCarthy is a solid player when healthy, and would give the team a great, young defender to build around.

Though he never lived up to expectations with the Seattle Seahawks, James Carpenter has shown flashes of becoming a very good lineman. He needs a change of scenery, and the Redskins need an upgrade at the guard position. Washington should pursue Carpenter.

The jury is still out on Robert Griffin III as a starting quarterback, and Kirk Cousins isn’t an adequate option should Griffin go down with injury. With Colt McCoy set to hit free agency, the Redskins should target Matt Moore as a guy who can hold down the fort if Griffin falters again.

2. Louis Delmas

When it comes to safeties, the Washington Redskins do not have much talent on the roster. By signing Louis Delmas, the team is getting a young, talented player who could really improve the back end of the defense.

Jarvis Jenkins is set to hit free agency, and the Redskins will need to find a replacement. Jerry Hughes has become one of the most feared pass-rushers in the NFL over the past couple seasons, and while he wouldn’t have as much talent around him in Washington, he would immediately be an upgrade over Jenkins and give the Redskins a special pass-rusher.
