Week 17 Matchup: New York Jets (3-12) vs. Miami Dolphins (8-7)
TV Schedule: Sunday, Dec. 28, 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS
Stadium: Sun Life Stadium
Line: Miami (-5.5)
The Miami Dolphins may have won in Week 16, but their playoff hopes ended. As for the New York Jets, their playoff hopes haven’t been a reality for quite some time. So, neither team has a whole lot to play for, but ending the year on a good note is always a huge plus.
The Jets only lost to the New England Patriots by one point in Week 16. That is the great thing about rivalries — records don’t matter going into them, for the most part. New York only has three wins in 2014, and it more than likely won’t capture its fourth one on the road in this one.
Miami managed to score 37 points against the Minnesota Vikings in a winning effort last week. Although this game against New York is basically pointless, the Dolphins have clearly had the much better season, and should cruise to victory if they come ready to play. They will also be playing at home.
These two teams met up earlier in the season. The Dolphins took that contest on the road. They certainly haven’t been playing their best football down the stretch, but their team came up just short of the playoffs, while the Jets never really had a chance.
PREDICTION: Jets 16, Dolphins 21
