5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rumors You Need To Know

With a ton of available cap space to spend and the No. 1 overall pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a great position to overhaul their roster and make some noise in 2015. There's a lot of speculation surrounding what the team is going to do, and these are five of the biggest rumors you need to know about.

Recently released from the Eagles, Trent Cole visited with Tampa Bay and is seen as a desirable replacement for Michael Johnson. Cole definitely isn’t young by NFL standards, but there’s always a demand for pass rushers. Cole’s natural position is as a 4-3 defensive end, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lovie Smith lock him up.

Adrian Peterson reportedly is willing to re-structure his contract to facilitate a trade, a trade that could now involve the Bucs and the San Diego Chargers. No doubt AP would be a great answer to the revolving door problem Tampa had in their backfield last season, and they’ll definitely have the cash to sign him. It would be a bold move to put them back in the NFC South hunt.

Ex-49er Mike Iupati is expected to be a hot commodity on the open market and has been heavily linked to the Bucs. While the Bucs have a need for a left guard, they already have Logan Mankins who exclusively plays on the left side. But I expect Tampa to bring Iupati in and move Mankins over to the right side; the potential to solidify the inside of the line is just too great with Iupati on board.

2. Ndamukong Suh

With Detroit not placing the franchise tag on Suh, plenty of teams have been linked to him and Tampa has always been on the list. While the cap space and the scheme fit is there, I don’t expect Tampa to be players for Suh. They’ve already got a ton of money invested in the position and too many upgrades needed elsewhere. Besides, they’d be competing with at least four other teams for Suh’s services in what's sure to be an expensive chase.

As part of the ongoing Mariota-to-Eagles saga, Tampa has been rumored to have a deal in place to ship the No. 1 overall pick to Philadelphia for a major haul in return. Let’s just nip this in the bud now: The Eagles aren’t trading for the No. 1 overall pick. There’s no way the Eagles would give up all those picks for Mariota when they could possibly get him five picks later, and Tampa isn’t giving up the possibility of drafting him or Winston.
