The 2015 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, and the New York Jets are preparing to make a huge decision for the franchise’s future. The main storyline regards whether or not the Jets will land Marcus Mariota, though I seriously doubt they would trade up for him. However, the contingency plans are equally as intriguing, so let's take a look at the Jets' mid-April seven round mock draft.

The nightmare scenario for the Jets is one in which Mariota, Dante Fowler, and Amari Cooper are all off the board. Unfortunately, I think that's also the most likely scenario. If that's the case, Beasley makes the most sense as a killer speed rusher with a high floor. Beasley is a great athlete, high character, and productive in college, and he should be a very good NFL pass rusher even if he's never a complete three down player.

2nd Round: OT Jake Fisher, Oregon

Offensive line is an underrated need for the Jets, and Fisher would be a great fit in the second round. Fisher played both tackle spots for the Ducks and is very good in pass protection, a major area of need for the Jets. Fisher could compete at guard as rookie, or potentially force Breno Giacomini inside and start at right tackle. Fisher also provides much need D'Brickashaw Ferguson insurance, and his versatility is a huge asset.

3rd Round: RB Duke Johnson, Miami

Personally, I think people are overrating the Jets' need for a running back, but it’s hard to argue with Johnson's fit in this spot. The Jets need a home run hitter in the backfield who can catch the ball well, and Johnson fits the bill. Johnson plays faster than his 4.51 40 time, and he's also Miami's all-time leader in all-purpose yardage. As a bonus, Johnson would give the Jets the kick returner they lack.

4th Round: QB Garrett Grayson, Colorado State

Waiting until now to take a quarterback is hardly ideal for the Jets, but spending a second round pick on a QB for the second time in three years doesn’t make sense either. Grayson would not even remotely be in contention to start as a rookie, but he is an intriguing developmental prospect who tore up the Mountain West in college. He is worth a shot early in the fourth, but he has a long way to go.

7th Round: WR Antwan Goodley, Baylor

The Jets don't have their fifth or sixth round picks, so we'll jump to the seventh round for a young wide receiver who could add some speed to the roster. Goodley is small, but he has 4.4 speed and good hands that were tested during a productive college career. Goodley would back up Jeremy Kerley, but he's a good value with high upside as a seventh round slot receiver.

7th Round: ILB Trey DePriest, Alabama

The Jets filled their depth need at inside linebacker with some veterans, but they could use a young player to push for a roster spot. DePriest has plenty of experience in an NFL style 3-4 defense and is a tough, smart run stuffer who loves to play downhill. DePriest would do well to learn from David Harris, and he could be a solid addition late in the draft.
