5 Teams That Could Trade For New York Jets' Muhammad Wilkerson

Reports came out on Tuesday morning that the New York Jets have been getting calls on their All-Pro defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. Anytime other teams are interested in a player it is wise for the organization to at least listen. If a team blows your socks off with an offer, then take it -- if not, then keep him. Wilkerson, who is only 25, wants a new deal and has skipped voluntary workouts until he gets one.

The Washington Redskins possess the No. 5 pick in the 2015 draft, and with how young Wilkerson is, it would make sense for new general manager Scot McCloughan to trade that pick for the DE. The Redskins would be receiving a young and proven product instead of drafting an unknown that could very easily turn into a bust. Wilkerson would give the Redskins an enormous boost after they finished last year 23rd in the league in sacks.

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is not afraid of making a big move on draft day. Back in 2011, Dimitroff traded picks Nos. 27, 59 and 124 of the 2011 draft and the Falcons' first and fourth-round picks of 2012 to the Cleveland Browns in order to move from 27 to 6 and draft receiver Julio Jones. The Falcons hired Dan Quinn as their coach and trading for Wilkerson would quickly improve the worst defensive line in the league.

The Cleveland Browns possess the Nos. 12 and 19 picks in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. General manager Ray Farmer could use one of those picks to try and trade for Wilkerson and enhance a defense that ranked 27th in the NFL in sacks last season. The Browns have a great secondary and solid linebacking corps, but the defensive line needs work in stopping the run and pressuring the quarterback.

The San Diego Chargers are coming off of consecutive 9-7 seasons. The team made the playoffs in 2013 but just missed in 2014. There are reports out that say if the Chargers move to Los Angeles, then QB Philip Rivers wants out. The Chargers and Jets should try and work out a deal involving Rivers and Wilkerson. The Jets need a solid veteran quarterback, and the Chargers could use Wilkerson to help boost their 26th ranked run defense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had trouble getting pressure on opposing QBs for years now, and trading for Wilkerson would make perfect sense. The Steelers had the 27th ranked pass defense in the NFL last season and were also 26th in the league in sacks. Those two stats are the reasons why the Steelers didn't make it past the first round of the playoffs against the Ravens. Joe Flacco tore the defense apart; add Wilkerson and it's a different story.
