The New York Jets already had one of the strongest defensive lines in the NFL heading into the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday. After drafting former USC defensive tackle Leonard Williams with the No. 6 pick, the Jets now have a problem every team wishes they could have — too much talent at one position.

Muhammad Wilkerson was already rumored to be on the trading block before the draft and now it’s a sure thing the Jets will entertain offers for the 25 year old. According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, the Jets are currently asking for multiple first-round picks for Wilkerson.

Wilkerson is a heck of a player, but a multiple first-round price tag seems high and I highly doubt any team would be willing to pay that price. Now that the Jets have added Williams into the mix, you have to figure the Jets lessen their trade demands and a move becomes more likely.

As La Canfora says, the Jets have three starting caliber defensive linemen even without Wilkerson. Sheldon Richardson will be asking for a massive new contract at the end of the 2015 season and it seems unlikely at this point they’ll be able to afford that contract with Wilkerson still on the team. Don’t be surprised if Wilkerson is traded before the season, but it definitely won’t be for multiple first-round picks.
