The Oklahoma City Thunder have been rumored to be interested in Sacramento Kings guard Jimmer Fredette. Although there is no absolute truth to the rumor, Fredette to the Thunder could add even more depth to the already deep bench that the defending Western Conference champions have.

Thunder beat writer Royce Young dismissed the idea and said not to take it seriously. You could only imagine what damage the team could do with a deeper bench than it already has with Fredette on the Thunder.

However, the Kings may move Fredette eventually if not soon.

The Kings have bigger things to focus on especially with the possible relocation of the franchise to Virginia Beach or somewhere else. A Fredette trade will be the last thing on the team’s mind with the possible sale of the team.

As for the Thunder, they are gearing up for another run at the NBA championship. They just extended dominant forward Serge Ibaka and with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook participating in the Olympics this past summer, they will be in better game-time shape than any of there teammates.

Fredette is going into his second season with the Kings after being drafted 11th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. He played in 61 games for the team last year and averaged 14.7 points per game with 3.4 assists per game as well.

If Fredette does wind up with the Thunder, he will be sought as a possible replacement for Derek Fisher. However, the team is expecting Eric Maynor back this season from a torn ACL he suffered last year which could make a Fredette trade obsolete.
