Former Philadelphia 76ers star guard, Allen Iverson, is considering playing this season for a Chinese team if an NBA offer from a team doesn’t come along.

The rumor stems from a Hoops Hype translation of a Chinese article depicting the motives of the former 1996 1st round draft pick. Whether Iverson is still capable of playing the game at a smaller level isn’t the case, it’s more of how much can he contribute to any team he’ll be on Chinese or American.

Iverson was quoted as saying: “I definitely want to return to the NBA, but if I can’t get back there, I’m hoping to play ball here (in China),” he also replied. “China is still one of my choices, but the team that wants me to join has got to show me that they really mean it, like ‘Hey, we really need you.’”

Regardless of the team he plays on, or what country it’s in, there is no doubt that the former Philly star will end up in the Hall of Fame and at a minimum will go down as one of the greatest guards to play in a 76ers jersey. Iverson averages 26.7 points per game, 6.2 assists per game, 3.7 rebounds per game and consistently shot 78 percent a game from the field. Iverson is also credited by many in Philadelphia as the former “King of the Crossover” or at least for re-inventing the crossover in the late 20th century and early 2000′s.

There are numerous incidents of A.I crossing over the likes of; Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, among numerous other guards in the league, the former being the most widely known.

To make it clear, if China doesn’t want the 6’0″ Georgetown Hoya, I’m sure any Philadelphia wouldn’t mind taking him back into the city of Brotherly Love.
