Howard Smith - US PRESSWIRE

Following a successful 2011 season in which he revived his NFL career, Eagles tight end Brent Celek has undergone two successful surgeries for injuries that he played through in the final stretch of the season.

He had a sports hernia and a torn labrum in his left hip.

According to CSNPhilly, Celek’s sports hernia surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers at Jefferson at the Navy Yard and his torn labrum repair was performed by Dr. John Salvo at the Rothman Institute.

He said that the injuries had been bothering him over the final stretch of the season but he knew he wasn’t going to miss a game so he just played through them.

This season, he caught 62 passes for 811 yards and score five touchdowns, including a 73-yard catch and run against the New York Jets, the longest play of his career.
