The Philadelphia Flyers Acquire Defenseman Nicklas Grossman From the Dallas Stars
Today the Philadelphia Flyers made a move for a d-man that was not on many people’s radar, Nicklas Grossman. The cost was a 2012 2nd round pick and a 2013 3rd round pick.
Grossman’s strengths are his 6’4, 230-pound frame and his ability on the penalty kill, which could be a big boost for the team right now. His weaknesses are the fact he will not bring you a lot on the offensive end and he doesn’t always use his body to his advantage.
Grossman is in the final year of his contract and is a small cap hit of $1.625 million. This season he has tallied five points in 52 games. I think the price was a little high for what the Flyers got in return.
I don’t think GM Paul Holmgren is close to being done, expect a major move before or at the deadline.
