Pat Burrell says his major league career is likely over, according to NBCSports.com. Burrell, 35, is battling a foot injury, and was limited to just 219 plate appearances in 2011.

Burrell was the first overall draft pick for the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1998 draft and blossomed into a regular in the big-league lineup by 2000. Burrell helped bring a World Series championship to the organization in 2008. He also played for the Tampa Bay Rays and San Francisco Giants, winning a World Series with the Giants in ’10.

Burrell hit .230 with seven home runs last year. He has 292 career home runs to go with a 116 adjusted OPS.
