Howard Smith - US PRESSWIRE

The Philadelphia Phillies inked top closer Jonathan Papelbon to a four-year, $50 million deal in the offseason, and the team’s new relief pitcher says Phillies fans know the game better than Boston Red Sox fans do.

Papelbon called Red Sox fans “hysterical” and said Phillies fans know the game better because they are in the National League, where the game is played the right away. This should definitely make Phillies fans like Papelbon more, as he is already one of the top closers in the game.

Papelbon was 4-1 with a 2.94 ERA and 31 saves for the Red Sox in 2011. He made four All-Star teams in seven seasons with the club.
