The NBA lockout keeps dragging on as the entire preseason and the first two weeks of the regular season have already been canceled and players and owners continue to blame one another.

Former Sun and now current New York Knicks power forward/center Amar’e Stoudemire made some interesting remarks about his former boss, Robert Sarver, in an interview with Alex Hahn of Newsweek over the weekend. STAT wasn’t bashful talking about the Suns owner.

He first credited Sarver as being one of the hardline owners in trying to stop the 2011/2012 season from happening.

“Oh, no, no, Sarver for sure. He’s probably the main guy that’s pushing for this lockout. It’s not cool. A lot of people have been affected by it.”

The Knicks superstar also had to get a dig on Sarver for not signing him during last year’s offseason.

“It wouldn’t be that big of a deal if he just re-signed some kid named Stoudemire. Then, he would have been in good shape. Obviously, he made a bad decision.”

Stoudemire’s last comments I don’t agree with. I still think the Suns ownership made the right decision in the long run on not giving STAT $100 million guaranteed. Towards the end of his first season in the Big Apple, he was already showing signs of wearing down. Just imagine where he will be in another 2-3 years?

In the end, Stoudemire was just showing off his ego and arrogance with that comment.

It is hard to disagree with his first comments though and he hasn’t been the only one who has made the some point Many journalists and others closely involved in the negotiations have even said that Sarver was one of the owners who stopped an agreement amongst the owners that could have ended the lockout weeks ago.

STAT is also right by saying that Sarver wanting to cancel this season all together does affect the lives of many. Right now, venders and others who work inside the arena and the organization are without jobs at the moment. That is never a good thing, especially with the current state of our sluggish economy.

I am one of the many Suns fans who believe that this organization is going to have a tough time competing as long as Sarver is running the show. In his time here in Phoenix, the organization has missed on a couple of chances to win championships just because Sarver didn’t spend the money necessary in order to improve the team’s depth through drafts.

Unfortunately Suns fans, we are more than likely stuck with Sarver and with no basketball for the foreseeable future.
