WWE Rumors: Could The Rock Face Rusev In Future?
With The Rock making an appearance on Monday Night RAW this past week, the internet is abuzz with talk and the rumor mill is rolling in full force about his altercation with Rusev and Lana. Rusev is surely going to get revenge for being embarrassed and physically manhandled by The Rock, right? How, though, is he expecting to exact revenge on a guy who doesn’t even show up any longer via satellite?
Will there be a proxy for The Rock? The angle between Rusev and Big Show was halted for Show to receive “sensitivity training”, which likely means they wizened up and are going to wait until Hell in a Cell to do their rematch instead of wasting it on RAW after barely building it up. In all likelihood Big Show will appear on RAW this upcoming Monday and confront Rusev; The Rock will be mentioned in passing, but that will be the end of his involvement. So no, there won’t be a proxy. This of course means Rock gets to show up, pop the crowd, not garner ratings because it was a surprise appearance and dominate a man who is rising up the ranks as an unbeatable monster. That doesn’t benefit anybody except for The Rock, who probably made more for that appearance than guys who bust their butts on TV and at live events and travel the road. Pop the crowd in Brooklyn and create a new moment for the next “Biggest Surprises” episode of WWE Countdown and lose way more money than you gain from it. The monster bad guy is never going to get a chance to get back at one of the biggest stars the industry has ever seen, because he’s not coming back. Even if he does, do you really think he’d lose to Rusev? It’s not 2002 anymore.
It becomes an even bigger problem and runs the risk of a snowball effect if Rusev doesn’t make Big Show tap out and subsequently defeat him in any rematch they have, just like he has done with everybody else. Hopefully, though, the path is clear enough in the small collective braintrust of the creative team to allow that to happen and move Rusev toward winning the United States Championship from Sheamus. Winning the U.S. Title raises the stakes significantly, especially for whomever is chosen to be the man to take the title from him and restore pride to America — or something like that.
