The Rock Should Take On Roman Reigns At WrestleMania

There is still no indication as to whether or not WWE plans to have The Rock actively participate in a match at WrestleMania. Certainly there is plenty of time to set up a feud and a match for the giant event, but who would be a big enough star? Kurt Angle is still a great pick, but something out of left field would be The Rock’s own cousin, Roman Reigns.

Look at it this way — last year at the Royal Rumble, Rocky took it upon himself to come down to the ring and try to help Reigns save face in front of a hostile crowd in Philadelphia. It didn’t work and Reigns arguably came off looking worse than he would have if his cousin didn’t interject. Then, just after he finally achieved his dream and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, The Rock announces that he will be returning to WWE to take part in the biggest WrestleMania ever. In Reigns’ mind, that’s two things the so-called People’s Champ has done to undermine him and his career.

He ended up losing his WWE Title in the Royal Rumble match this year and The Rock was nowhere to be seen. Why could he show up on Monday for RAW in Miami but not for the Rumble PPV on Sunday in Orlando? That’s when Reigns could have used the help, but no, The Rock needs the spotlight all to himself, just like he did when he came out after Reigns won the Rumble match by himself in 2015 and announced his WWE return only two weeks after Reigns defeated Sheamus to win the title on Monday Night RAW.

WWE passed on the perfect opportunity to turn Reigns heel at Survivor Series, but they have been gifted another very opportune moment to pull that trigger. The man has a ton of reasons to go bad, all of them absolutely classic heel turn impeti. Give it a shot!

Reigns would be a mega heel against The Rock at WrestleMania, and the crowd will hate him even more when he beats his cousin clean in the middle. Then the hate will grow when he takes the title from Dean Ambrose (who wins it from Triple H at Mania), and eventually, when the time is right, he can turn face after proving his worth as a heel.

What would you rather see at WrestleMania? Roman Reigns vs. The Rock, Dean Ambrose vs. Triple H and Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt would be a great triple main event.
