NFL fans already are nervous about the potential lockout by the owners and the threat of no football in 2011, and today the NFL issued a statement which has to make all fans of the NFL nervous. USA Today is reporting that the NFL has announced that fans would get rebates for tickets purchased to 2011 games which might be cancelled. The rebate would affect preseason and regular season games.Season ticket holders can either get a rebate or extend a credit towards future tickets.

The league announced that fans will get refunds for tickets purchased and canceled no later than 30 days after the final determination of how many games will be canceled in the 2011 season. This announcement will do very little to spur ticket sales in the offseason.

The NFL is experiencing record numbers this season despite such a bleak economy. The owners and player union needs to find a way to get a collective bargaining agreement worked out before any interruption of the 2011 season. Both sides are posturing to win over support from the fans, but in this economy, billionaires fighting with millionaires isn’t going to garner support from families struggling to pay their month bills.

One Rant to “NFL announces rebates to fans”

    Re: Hank Williams, Jr.

Let’s see Hank is not an employee of ESPN. He was not speaking on behalf of ESPN. He has protection under the 1st Amendment. He is entitled to his opinion whether ESPN likes it or not. “I may not agree with what you are saying but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” I guess ESPN
has no regard to a person’s Constitutional rights.

Well, ESPN, you can kiss my footballs. I will no longer watch anything that is put forth on your anti-American network.
