With all the rumors, all the speculation, at the end of the day today, do the Seattle Seahawks end up with Arizona Cardinals QB Matt Leinart? On Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals told Matt Leinart and his agent to go out and work out their own deal, find a trade partner. In other words, don’t let the door hit you on the way out of town, get gone…..please. But it seems as if there are no takers for Matt Leinart. The New York Giants would have been possible suitors for the USC southpaw, but they worked out a trade (I mean steal) for Sage Rosenfels.

I was reported yesterday that the Seattle Seahawks are interested in obtaining another quarterback. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Seahawks were interested in Patrick Ramsey, but what happens if at 6pm tonight, Matt Leinart is simply released by the Arizona Cardinals? Would Pete Carroll pull the trigger on obtaining his former Heisman Trophy winner?

One of the problems surrounding a trade for Leinart has been his contract, the other is his desire to be traded to a team so that he can be a starter. Sorry Matt, you had that chance with the Arizona Cardinals and you couldn’t beat out Derek Anderson. In fact, rookie Max Hall looks better than you on the field.

In order for Leinart to be acquired somewhere, even as a free agent is quite simply he needs to get over himself, he’s proven nothing on the field and perhaps he’s not that good. Yeah he’s won a Heisman, so did Gino Toretta, you see where his career went. Another case of a quarterback surrounded with talent playing inferior opponents while racking up huge numbers, that doesn’t always equal success in the NFL.

So if Leinart is holding a will work for basically nothing sign at 6:15pm tonight, will the Seattle Seahawks extend an open hand?
