2012 NFL Playoffs: NFL Rant – NFC Preview

We’re just a few days away from the beginning of the 2012 NFL postseason and there’s plenty of interesting topics to debate–especially when it comes to Wild Card Weekend in the NFC. Jeric Griffin and Dan Parzych of Rant Sports decided to chime in on who they believe will end up on the winning side of this weekend’s games and the video can be found on the Coors Light 2012 NFL Playoffs page at Rant Sports–so be sure to check it out.

Despite their inexperience, Dan believes the Detroit Lions have what it takes to march down into New Orleans and upset the Saints on the road–mainly because Matthew Stafford has proven over the last few weeks that he’s worthy of being placed in the elite category at quarterback and he’ll be going up against one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL. As for Jeric, he knows the Saints have the upper hand playing at the Superdome–where they are 8-0 on the season. The fact that Drew Brees is the new single-season record holder for passing yards shows that he’s ready to carry this team for another Super Bowl run and the Saints’ running game will be too much for the Lions to handle.

As for the other game in the NFC, Dan believes the Falcons have what it takes to upset the Giants on the road. Not only has Atlanta won eight of their last 11 games and has one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL in Roddy White and Julio Jones, but he’s not buying all of the hype surrounding New York heading into the postseason. Jeric on the other hand believes that Eli Manning will carry this team on his shoulders just like he has throughout the entire 2012 season and the Giants’ rushing defense–which has looked impressive towards the end of the season–will step it up and shutdown Michael Turner in the ground game.

Be sure to check back throughout the week for more videos from Rant Sports and don’t miss the guys in action for this weekend’s game as they’ll be down in New Orleans for the Saints-Lions game.
