Did Cris Carter Miss Out on Hall of Fame Because Female Voter Had Personal Problem With Former Wideout?
(Paul Chapman/US PRESSWIRE)

After 16 seasons in the NFL in which he recorded 1,101 catches for 13,899 yards to go along with 130 touchdowns, it’s safe to say most people believe Cris Carter’s entrance into the Pro Football Hall of Fame is well overdue. While he was snubbed once again this year by missing out being part of the 2012 class, a recent report could make an interesting case for Carter and whether or not the voting process was fair this year.

According to Howard Eskin of  WIP and NBC 10 in Philadelphia, Carter missed out on being part of this year’s Hall of Fame class because of one female voter that had a “personal problem” with the current ESPN analyst.

WR Cris Carter didn't make the Pro Football HOF I was told b cause female voter has personal problem w CC. Cost 4 votes. Missed by 1.

Howard Eskin

If what Eskin claims is true, this could certainly stir up quite the controversy–especially when considering how close Carter was to being part of this year’s Hall of Fame class. Whether a player deserves to be in Canton should be based off their career and not because of someone’s “personal problems” towards them–which makes Carter’s situation even more frustrating to deal with.
