Rant: Dear Tebow-maniacs, Please Leave Denver
Ron Chenoy- US PRESSWIRE

Dear Tebow-maniacs,

Please leave Denver.

This will be my last correspondence on this issue. I have heard you talk about intangibles for the last two years. I have heard you praise Tebow as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league in both his good games and bad games. I’ve heard you dismiss his flaws and maliciously verbally attack anyone who said anything negative about him

Let me start by saying that I enjoyed Tim Tebow’s time in Denver. I was not rooting for him to fail, and wish him the best in New York. But the Broncos odds to win the Super Bowl with Tebow were 75-to-one. The odds with Peyton Manning are eight-to-one. With Tim Tebow, the Denver Broncos were battling for the AFC West. With Peyton Manning, the Broncos are competing for an AFC Championship.

In the words of Bob Segar, “You look just like a Commie and you might just be a member, Baby, Get out of Denver, Baby, Get out of Denver.”

The cries lamenting Tim Tebow have all been heard. So many fans have come out and said they will never be a Broncos fan again because they traded Tebow. To this argument, I say that you never were a Broncos fan to begin with. You were a Tebow fan. A Franchise of over 50 years is not made up of one player, and the Broncos did not win a game in the playoffs because of Tebow alone. If you are not willing to support the Broncos right now, do not show up to their next Super Bowl parade.

Some among you believe that Peyton Manning’s health negates every accomplishment he’s had in becoming one of the all time greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. You point to his age and say that he does not have many years left. To this I remind you of John Elway’s many surgeries and the fact that Elway was older than Manning when he won his two Super Bowls.

As far as career longevity, you can never plan far ahead in the future in the NFL. The average playing career is three years. How are you supposed to predict Tim Tebow’s future beyond this season? He had serious injuries in the New England game and is just as vulnerable as a healthy Peyton Manning.

Finally, you argue that Tim Tebow could have stayed as Peyton Manning’s back up. Are you serious? And the first time Manning throws an interception have people chanting Te-Bow? You Tebow-maniacs drove Tim out of town. On top of that, Manning does not like to rest. He takes almost every snap. How does Tebow fit into that? Also, Tebow does not want to spend five years in the NFL as a back up.

So pack up your signs and your jerseys and please leave. Do not call into radio shows. Do not stand on street corners. Do not picket Dove Valley. Do not indignantly wear your number 15 jerseys and curse John Elway, after all he did for Broncos’ fans. Of course, you are not Broncos’ fans. You will not give the Super Bowl push a chance.

This is Broncos’ Country and Tebow rode off into the sunset. Best of luck to the rest of you.

Sincerely,
Denver Broncos Fans
