Considering how many times his name has been thrown around in trade talks, it seems like only a matter of time before Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel finds himself on a new team for the 2012 team. According to one report, at least one team has already made an offer to acquire the veteran cornerback–the Denver Broncos.

Mike Klis of The Denver Post reported on Friday how the Broncos presented to trade offers to the Eagles to acquire Samuel–which may come as a bit of a surprise to some since the team already has Champ Bailey and Tracy Porter on the roster. Apparently, one of the deals made by Denver involved draft picks and the other involved sending a player Philadelphia’s way, but the Eagles turned down both offers.

Samuel signed with the Eagles back in 2008 after spending the first five years of his career with the New England Patriots and has two years remaining on his six-year, $59.5 million contract. Philadelphia is already loaded with talent at the cornerback position after signing Nnamdi Asomugha and acquiring Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie prior to the 2011 season–which means they could afford to give up Samuel with the right offer

He may be effective at times when it comes to making key interceptions, but the argument can be made that Samuel is one of the most overrated cornerbacks in the NFL considering the criticism he receives as a player that appears to be afraid of making tackles at times.
