San Antonio has a horrible road record this season, and at 0-4, they need to improve in a hurry. In their fourth road game, they finally eclipsed the 100 point barrier, but still inexcusably to the Milwaukee Bucks.

For a team that is hoping to make the playoffs, the Spurs have got to finish teams when they have the opportunity. I understand the road loss to the Rockets, playing on the second day of a back-to-back, and their third game in four days. Fine. But losing to Minnesota? Can’t happen.

Even without Manu Ginobili, this team has enough playmakers to still contend. Tony Parker has been everywhere, and even Tim Duncan’s last two games have been solid. Daniel Green has done squat since his scoring out burst, but Kawhi Leonard is making his statement for more playing time.

Like last season, San Antonio is going to have to find that sixth man to step up. Unfortunately, he is going to have to be the third scorer. Parker and Duncan are going to have to get their points. Richard Jefferson is due about 12 per game, but not much more. Where is the rest of the offense going to come from?

I’m not quite sure, but someone has got to. At least early in this season, San Antonio is giving the younger players plenty of time to grow before the games get crucial. Though in this short season, every win counts.

The Spurs are going to contend for a playoff spot, but if they cannot win road games, it is not going to be a great seed, nor will they make a deep playoff run. At least San Antonio is protecting their home court, as they have the best record in the NBA at 7-0.
