LSU and Alabama Will Put Their Rivalry Aside For Tornado Relief By Creating World’s Largest Pot of Gumbo
(Yahoo! Sports)

There’s a good chance both Alabama and LSU will be undefeated when theses two SEC powerhouses square off against one another in a few weeks on November 5. However, just because these two rivals will be enemies on the field doesn’t mean they can’t be friends off the field–especially when it’s for a good cause.

According to Graham Watson of Yahoo! Sports, New Orleans chefs John Folse and Rick Tramonto will team up with former Alabama and Miami Dolphins nose tackle Bob Baumhower to attempt getting in the Guinness Book of World Records by creating the world’s largest pot of gumbo. The first ever LouisiBama Gumbo Bowl will take place before the big game on November 5 to raise money for tornado relief for the victims that are still suffering from the tragic events from last April in which tornadoes ripped through Tuscaloosa.

So what will the world’s largest pot of gumbo consist of? Well–750 pounds shrimp, 450 pounds catfish fillets, 100 pounds claw crabmeat, 50 pounds white crabmeat, 200 pounds alligator meat, 25 pounds Louisiana crawfish tail meat, 200 pounds diced onions, 75 pounds diced celery, 100 pounds diced green bell pepper, 150 pounds sliced okra, 50 pounds dehydrated garlic and 20 pounds butter.

If that doesn’t qualify as a delicious meal–I’m not sure what does. Be sure to check out more details about the first ever LouisiBama Gumbo Bowl and getting involved with the tornado relief by clicking here.
